Rancho Del Oro Golden Retrievers, RDO Golden Retrievers, Clairyce Dolson Gaston This breeder is a total fraud, she doesn't guarantee her dogs according to California law, her puppies have serious genetic problems, her dogs get returned back to her due to temperament problems, she lies about other breeders to steal their customers, she doesn't pay her taxes that she makes from puppy/dog sales and is now under investigation by the state of California! Clairyce produces poor quality puppies out of her so called show dogs (just look at the pictures of her dogs on her web site), her show dogs are the worst looking Goldens at any of the dog shows, yet she still claims to have show quality breeding stock, it just goes to show that if you have enough money you can make any dog a champion!
She lies to the public by acting like she doesn't produce enough puppies to qualify for the CA Puppy Lemon Law, but she does. She doesn't have a seller's permit, so she is committing a felony crime by selling puppies and dogs. She charges outrageous prices for adult dogs with bad temperaments!
She's breeding partners with Pat Greene from Emerald Acres who has over 40+ breeding dogs on her property and all the GRCLA club members call her a puppy mill! Clariyce criticizes other breeders by calling them puppy mills if they have a lot of breeding dogs, but not if she's making money with them,
she makes money with Pat Greene! She even hides some of her dogs at her house!
She will flat out lie about other breeders to steal their customers. She constantly bad mouths other breeders yet she has produced dogs with hip dysplasia and entropion just to mention a few of the genetic problems her puppies that she has produced have come down with! Claryice is a bad person with poor quality dogs, do not buy from her!!!

Clairyce Dolson Gaston, owner of Rancho Del Oro, passed away in early 2007 after a very prolonged illness. I was acquainted with Clairyce and knew her to be a very ethical breeder. The same is true of Patricia Greene of Emerald Acres. The report above, written by "Lisa in Panorama, CA" and signed by "Nancy in Long Beach" was really written by Lisa Barreras of Tropico Kennels, now known as Southern Cal Kennels and located in Palmdale, California. I have found at least six Rip Off Reports on this person/company just on this website. (You may have to search each name individually in order to find all six.) I think after reading these reports, you will be able to form your own opinions. You can also google Tropico Kennels to get additional information. Look at her website and, in particular, click on the links to available dogs/puppies.

This rebuttal is in response to the vicious slandering of Rancho Del Oro and Emerald Acres. Recently, my Golden Retriever of 14.5 years past away. I purchased Jake from Mrs. Clairyce Dolson at Rancho Del Oro in Rosamond, Ca, March 1995. Jake was whelped December 12, 1994. He was a beautiful dog. He was not used as a show dog nor was he used as a working dog; he was my best friend. Later, he became my three sons' best friend. He had no health problems until very late in his life. Like most retrievers of pureness, they develop hip issues eventually.
Also, they get growth tumors. I have not met anyone that has buried a Golden without these problems. When we went to pick our pup, years ago, from Clairyce, we thought we would be screening the puppy. Instead, we got screened by Clairyce to ensure we would be suitable owners for the Golden we picked. We past the test, as did Jake. He had great temperment to say the least. Additionally, when we brought him back for a check, we mentioned we were feeding him a run of the mill dog food. Oh my GOD, one would have thought I committed a crime. Clairyce scolded us and informed us of the type of food and why. She treated her breeding like a science. Almost boaring you with scientific details about raising her Golden's.
This woman's passion is with her Golden's. While living at Edward's Airforce Base, I was stopped by a Bristish woman while I was at the park playing with Jake. She asked me if I recently returned from England. I told her no, why do you ask? She said your dog is very blond and beautiful like true English bread Golden's in her country. She further commented that most Golden's she had seen in the United States appear more red explaining about "bad genetics." My point is all of her dogs were beautiful because this is her life. I dismiss any talk of a "puppy mill, ugly dogs, bad breeding. I am very skeptical about the claims of Rancho Del Oro breaking any laws without proof, as they are still in operation.
With all of this said, I am not going to judge this person. Maybe there was a bad dealing or maybe there is a grudge for what-ever reason. What I do know is that this complaint is slanderous and malicious. When I read it I was appalled. As for Rancho Del Oro and Emeral Acres, I would recommend these breeders to my best friend. I also wish to publicly thank them for providing my family with a Golden Retriever that fullfilled my life and my family's life with much joy. He will be truly missed. Jake was the offspring of Sire: RDO- Emerald's Rocket Man and Dam:Hylander's Lil Pest O'Emeral-RDO's.
