Complaint Review: Randall Isenberg

Randall Isenberg HORRIBLE ATTORNEY DO NOT HIRE Dallas Texas

I was charged with a DWI.  I found Mr. Isenberg on the internet and filled out the request for a consultation on his website.  He called me right back on a Sunday.  I was impressed by this.  When I arrived at his office on Monday, there were 5 or 6 other people waiting in the lobby.  When he came out and called my name I assumed it was to go to his office for the consultation.  He also called several other people to come back to the offices.  We were all farmed out to various offices to speak to associates or assistants.  The associate I spoke to didn't ask many questions about my case and then Mr. Isenberg came in.  He proceeded to tell me that his fee for a plea would be $10,000 and if my case went to trial it would be $20,000.  I tried to ask him some questions while he was there but he seemed in too much of a hurry to get to the next client.  I assume to tell them about his outrageous fees.  After Mr. Isenberg left the office, the associate I had been speaking with didn't seem interested in talking further about my case when I told her that I didn't know how I could pay the $10,000.  She suggested that I talk with another associate to see about working out some kind of payment plan.  Before we left her office, I asked for some assurance about the outcome of my case and she said "It's about 99% sure you are going to prison."  I then went in to speak with the gentleman about the payment plan and he informed me that I could pay half now but the other half would have to be paid in two weeks. I left the office thinking "why in the world would I pay someone $10,000 if I am going to prison anyway?".  I also left the office with the impression that Mr. Isenberg is running a case mill.  He is not concerned with his clients, or potential clients, well being, only with the money.

A few days after my "consultation" with Mr. Isenberg, I posted a review on avvo.com regarding my experience with him.  He called me and threatened me that he would take "every action available to him" to punish me if I didn't remove my comments.  Very professional (read with the utmost sarcasm).

I have since talked to a few other attorneys who seemed genuinely concerned for me and my situation and had much more reasonable fees.  I told one of them that I had first spoken to Mr.Isenberg and his exact words to me were "It's a good thing you didn't hire him, he sucks."

I would not under any circumstances recommend hiring Mr. Isenberg, even if he were the last attorney on this earth.  You would be better off representing yourself.  You would also have a lot more money in your pocket.

#6REBUTTAL Individual responds

Dear Mr. Isenberg,

When you posted your response to my original post, and included all my personal information, did it make you feel better?

I understood going in that my case was not going to be easy.  I know that I was in a very difficult position.  You took NO time to get to know me or my situation.  All you knew was what was on my criminal history and whatever brief description I could give in the 15 minutes I was allowed for my "consultation" before I was whisked off to the finance guy to determine when I would be required to pay the outrageous fees you were requiring.  By your own admission, I would have had to pay you $10K in order for you to give an "honest assesment of the facts."  That in and of itself is beyond ridiculous.

When you posted personal information about me, did it make you feel better?  Did you feel like you were telling the world something about me?  In case you didn't know, criminal court information is available on most county websites.  The public has access to this information.  Kudos to you!  You know how to cut and paste!  I do have a question, tho.  What was your objective by posting the information?  To tell everyone that I have a criminal history?  That must have come as quite the shock to everyone, being as you are an attorney and all.  I mean, wow!  Someone with a criminal history consulted with an attorney.  Shocking!

I stand by my statement that you are running a case mill.  When you are "consulting" with multiple clients at the same time (literally running from room to room, with absolutely no personal connection until the money is paid is, by definition, a case mill.  You can dispute this until you are blue in the face and it won't change the facts.

And just so that you and all who read this are clear.  I did not go to prison.  Not for the parole violation.  Not for the DWI.  And it did not cost me $10K.  And the funny thing is, it didn't really take up a lot of time or "expertise" to make that happen.

I will end this by thanking you!  Thank you, Mr. Isenberg!  For being who you are.  Because of you being you, I avoided a lengthy prison term by not hiring you.  For that, I will always be grateful.

Your response seems a bit over the top to defend yourself against someone who you clearly hold in contempt.  Maybe the report hit a little too close to home, or was a little too close to the truth for comfort?  I have had a similar experience with you and your office and I would NEVER refer you to anyone.

You really should'nt be in the business of going after someone so viciously when, if your repuration and business practice is so stellar, it should stand on its own without all this hoopla.

You really should do your research before you start commiserating with someone.  I have had a similar experience with this attorney and agree that he is running a case mill.

Randy!!!! I know how difficult clients can be. Especially in YOUR profession. They always come to you with a sob story and how innocent they REALLY are. But this person who has defamed you has done so with the intent to cause harm to YOUR business!!! Were I you, I would seriously consider a nice civil action!!!! People use the web to spread THIER brand of BS and they really don't CARE who they actually hurt. people like this person NEED to be taught that even the web has real life consequences. Keep up the good fight!!!!!

Teresa Murphy AKA Tracy Murphy, DOB (((Redacted)))1964 is the person who wrote the above review.  She is a convicted felon who as on parole and facing a new felony offense of DWI 3rd or more.  Her cases (the new felony charge and the inevitable parole violation)were complicated and would have required a great deal of time and skill to resolve favorably.  She was facing going back to prison to serve the remainder of the sentence she was on parole for, as well as the enhanced punishment range of 2 to 20 years in prison and an optional $10,000.00 fine for the new felony DWI.  That is the reason for the quoted fee of $10,000.

I do not believe in telling people what they want to hear so that they will hire my firm.  I give my honest assessment of the facts that I have.  In this particular incident, since there was only a consultation and no actual representation, I had no information beyond what the potential client relayed to my associate and me.  Many of this person's questions were unanswereable at the time because the facts were unknown to me.

As for her allegation that my practice is a "case mill", that is simply incorrect.  I do have a thriving practice, and there are certain days that are busier than others, for example, Saturday mornings.  However, I have two other attorneys, who are both knowledgeable and accomplished in their own right, who work for me.  My office also consists of two legal assistants and a receptionist.  We are busy because of the results we get.  We are busy because we are good.

I am sorry that this potential client felt the need to misrepresent the nature of our relationship; there was never an attorney/client relationship with this woman, and the substance of our interactions.  I believe that my firm and I could have helped her get the best result possible given the situation in which she found herself.
