I was referred to Mr. Magee by the Texas State Lawyer Referral Service. I was attempting to recover my son whom had been taken by his father and hidden from me. I met Mr. Magee and he seemed honest enough. I trusted him because he was referred to me by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as well as the TLRS. We went over my case and he said he would take it on for the standard $2,000.00 retainer. I paid him and got my reciept. I had to continuously harrass him to get him to file the suit affecting parent child relationship. (By now I almost know enough to do it with a lawyer!) After finally getting him to file the paperwork, he never served my ex and he stopped retuning my calls. When the day of court arrived Mr Magee was nowhere to be found, and consiqientially neither was my ex or my son, since Mr Magee had never had him served with a notice to appear.
This was very embarrassing, I showed up to court and my lawyer was not there and neither was the defendant. Mr Magee has still never returned my calls. He refuses to refund me my retainer fee for services UNrendered. Don't use him, he will take your money and run. He should be disbarred.

I DO NOT KNOW ANY OF THE ATTORNEYS HERE AND I HAVE NEVER RETAINED THEIR SERVICES.
I WILL TELL YOU THAT FAMILY LAW IN TEXAS CAN BE A HELLISH, DANGEROUS AND EXTREMELY INTERESTING EXPERIENCE TO OBSERVE. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT IT IS LIKE TO PRACTICE AND I CAN IMAGINE THAT THERE ARE STRESSED OUT AND HIGHLY EMOTIONAL PEOPLE AS DIVORCE CAN BE DEVESTATING TO ONE'S EGO AND TO ONE'S FINANCES.
I ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WITNESS THE EPIC PETERSON V. PETERSON UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL AS IT HAPPENED AND THAT CASE IS STILL BEING STUDIED ACCORDING TO MY FAMILY LAW PROFESSOR.
THAT SAID, THIS STORY TOLD HERE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF HOW A LEGAL ASSISTANT WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT THE CONSTABLE'S OFFICE AND HAD SERVICE DELIVERED OR BY REGISTERED LETTER TO THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS OF THE RESPONDENT OR PUBLISHED THE NOTICE IN A NEWSPAPER OF GENERAL CIRCULATION IN THE PLACE WHERE THE RESPONDENT WAS LAST KNOWN TO BE LIVING AND IF ALL ELSE FAILED, TO POST IT ON THE BULLETIN BOARD AT THE COURT HOUSE. A LOT OF THE TRAVIS COUNTY DEPUTY CONSTABLES ARE RESOURCEFUL FOLKS AND CAN ALMOST ALWAYS FIND THE RESPONDENT ON WHOM THEY HAVE TO SERVE THE PREREQUISITE SUMMONS, ETC.
FAMILY LAW IS TOO TREACHEROUS A PRACTICE FOR ME. I REMEMBER WHEN THAT LADY FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY WAS GUNNED DOWN IN AUSTIN,TEXAS BY THE ABOUT TO BE EX-HUSBAND OF HER CLIENT. I THINK HE ALSO KILLED THE CLIENT AND HIMSELF...IT HAPPENS
SOMETIMES, CLIENTS' DESIRES FOR REVENGE TEND TO OUTWEIGH WHAT THEY CAN AFFORD IN MATTERS LIKE THESE.
AND SOMETIMES, ATTORNEYS DO NOT HAVE LEGAL ASSISTANTS TO HELP THEM REMEMBER COURT DATES AND INSURE THAT PROCESS IS SERVED IN A TIMELY FASHION, AND IT DOES HAPPEN.
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO THE TRAVIS COUNTY DISTRICT COURT JUDGE WAS WHO HEARD THE CASE AND WHAT JUDICIAL NOTICE WAS MADE OF THE ABSENCE OF THE RESPONDENT AND PETITIONER'S COUNSEL -- IF THAT WAS THE CASE.
I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT HAPPENED HERE.
BUT WHAT IF IT DID?? HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION.
IN THE HEAT OF ANGER, DISGRUNTLED AND BADLY INFORMED PERSONS CAN SAY MANY THINGS, SOME OF WHICH ARE PATENTLY FALSE-- AND THE ATTORNEYS USUALLY GET THE BLAME.
FAMILY LAW IS TOXIC.
ALL I KNOW IS WHAT I READ HERE AND NO MORE SO I AM NOT TAKING SIDES.
LEGAL ASSISTANTS CAN BE USEFUL AND CAN EXPLAIN TO CLIENTS THAT RETAINERS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS NON-REFUNDABLE ONCE PAID AND HAD THE CLIENT SIGN A PAPER REPEATING THIS INFORMATION AND IF THE CLIENT UNDERSTOOD IT AND AGREED? AND PUT A COPY IN THE CLIENT'S FILE AND GIVEN THE CLIENT A COPY?

Although I am ethically limited in my ability to discuss this false report in view of the attorney-client relationship, I can state that it is false and without merit. It is very easy to make baseless accusations on the internet and very hard to have them removed. After 11 years of practice, I have never had someone make such allegations against me other than this person. Her case resolved as she described for reasons unrelated to my actions. This website only allows you to remove such allegations if you pay them. I refuse to do so or be extorted. Thank you.
