I got the Ratchet Infotech phone # from the internet, when I needed help installing a new Brother wireless printer.  The Ratchet salesman that answered the phone understodd I was having trouble intalling the printer and said Remote Access would help him.  After a couple of minutes, he said I had two issues that could esculate into a major problem for my laptop:

1) Many ERRORS and WARNINGS on my Error Log (and they were becoming more-plentiful);

2) In the MSCONFIG file he found many Applications (including the Printer Driver)  had STOPPED.

He said these issues were preventing my new printer from being properly installed and that I should get these problems fixed.  He said for $69.99, his Tech could clear up these problems, plus Tune Up my laptop.

I said OK, I had no choice.  I spent an hour on the phone with the Tech who:

A)  Got my printer working;

B)  Ran a trial version of Malwarebytes, to clean up junk files;

C)  Explained the Error Log issues were common and no-problem -- they mainly occured when the internet was shut-down without properly closing all the open windows;

D) Explained the Apps not running (Stopped) was because they were not actively-running -- so, a correct/common/no-problem condition.

I purchased thier Service because I was "scared into it".  I complained to the Supv with no satisfaction. Their website indicates 7 things that they were to do as part of the Tune-UP, which they did not do.

Lessons learned:  Malwarebytes is free on the internet (a good product).  Brothers will help you install a new printer for free.  Don't let a "stranger" have Remote Access to your PC.  Don't be "rushed" into getting PC support, without checking into the Company and the Issues, with your IT guy.
