I thought green handles at service stations meant diesel fuel.  NOT true, BP stations use green for their regular unleaded pumps so if you're not verifying the fuel you will be wrong.

Recently purchased a diesel vehicle and pulled into BP to fill up.  Pulled up to pump and picked up the green handle (universal for diesel in most service stations) and filled up.  Didn't go far before the vehicle was running poorly and once shut off wouldn't start.

Called the dealership and they had it towed in only to discover I had put regular unlead fuel in my tank NOT diesel.  NOT sure what the final cost will be for NOT verifying fuel..

BEWARE, don't use BP service stations if you want diesel fuel.

Well, customers who need diesel fuel can still go to a BP station, they just need to be sure that they are in fact about to pump diesel fuel into their vehicle. It is true that most stations use green handles for diesel pumps but apparently not all of them. I haven't used BP stations for fuel but I was wondering - didn't the pump ask you to select an octane level for regular gasoline?
