Complaint Review: Raymond (Ray) Rau -TX Barndominium Group

 Ray Rau with TX Barndominium Group took a check from us on October 31, 2014 for $5000 earnest money. He started on our house and would go for months without contacting us or doing any work. After receiving an additional $71,000, he abandoned us and left us with a frame that had become molded . We recently in June, 2016 hired another builder that had to take all of the OSB off because it was swollen and mildewed and had to redo all the door headers because they were built 3 inches too short. That cost us an extra $1000 in addition to the $10,000 to fix the house before we could even start again. Our front porch had to be torn down and redone because it was constructed wrong with no joist hangers and was built too short.

Where our floor plan showed 2x6 between the bathroom walls, they were 2x4. He didn't put a drain for the spare bathroom sink. The drain for master bathroom couldn't even be used because he put it on the outside wall. The outside height of the house was supposed to be 12' and instead was not quite 10'. He did not include a drainage pipe in the mud room for the washing machine. It has been a nightmare and we cannot find him, he won't return calls or emails and we found out his liability insurance was not good. The house we signed the paperwork at in 2014 is empty. We filed a police report for theft by check and fraud with Falls county sheriffs department (where our property is located). We are hoping justice comes from what he has put us through! No one deserves such horrific dealings with a builder!!
