Raymour Ripoffs
Talk about a bad experience! I recently was (and still am, apparently) in the market for furniture. I visited a local furniture store and found something I really liked but decided to check Raymour and Flanigans for a better price. They "beat" the deal by $79.00. Well, it definately wasn't worth the "big savings." I ordered the furniture and put a $50.00 payment down on it on February 1, 2000 with the understanding that it would be ordered immediately. When I went in on February 29, 2000 to pay the balance of $l708.24 I was told that my furniture had not been ordered yet. I paid the money in good faith when they said they would reorder it and gave me a "loaner sofa" to use in the meantime. That wasn't such a great experience either but I won't get into that. I still have the loaner sofa but don't feel extremely comfortable letting my 3 year old nephew sit on it or play on it because it is not mine. Today they delivered my waterbed. Guess what? It's not the one I picked out. I was told that I would be able to fill the baffles in the bathtub and carry them in to the bed. The ones they delivered have to be filled with a hose. Not that big of a deal really except that that's not what I thought I was getting. They also gave me a regular bed frame when my receipt says I should have gotten a frame with 7 legs and casters. The one I have in my home right now has 4 legs with casters. OH! And the furniture? I called a few days ago and the receptionist told me it would be here by the end of the month. Today they tell me it will be mid to late April. When I said I was fed up and just wanted my money back I was told "it's too late in the game to get any money back." HELP!!!

Regarding your experience at Raymour & Flanigan...I was Customer Service Manager and Sales Manager for almost six years for this company. When taking delivery of anything (furniture or otherwise) you should carefully inspect everything before the drivers leave your home. If you find they have delivered the wronge merchandise and you don't need it that day to say, "hold up your mattress" you should refuse the item or items until you get what you ordered. The same goes for damaged merchandise. It is the drivers responsibility to deliver the merchandise in good condition.
However, if you opt the quality inspector to come out to your home and correct any problems it should end there. The merchandise should be repaired to your satisfaction. I can assure you the owners of Raymour and Flanigan would expect nothing less from their stores.
If you have spoken with the Store Manager and did not get satisfactory results ask to speak directly with the Operations Regional and the Operations Regional only. You should get results in a timely fashion.
I assure you that I would personally NEVER work for a company that did not put their customers first....as a long term employee I know first hand that this is an isolated incident that can be solved to your satisfaction should the right person hear about it.
Hope any of this helps you !!
