RBC Bank (Credit Card) Poor Customer support Internet
Heads up RBC credit card holders! Please read and heed!
Several years ago I had charges from an online merchant that were placed on my Capital One credit card. I contacted Capital One and told them I did not authorize these charges. They said no problem, removed the charges, sent me a form to fill outend of story. Unfortunately, I left Capital One a couple of years ago because they raised my interest rates for no reason! I paid my bills on time and had been a cardholder with them for almost 10 years. It was because of this I left Capital One and went with RBC which had a lower interest rate.
Well, last summer I had a similar instance occur where this time unauthorized charges were put on my RBC credit card by an online merchant called Hot Movie Sale.com so I called RBC to inform them. Much to my surprise the lady on the phone told me I (me) had to contact the merchant and work it out with them!!! Now wait a d**n minute..I did not authorize these chargesisnt the credit card company supposed to represent and back me up when shyster occurrences such as this happen!?!? WTF!!! Long story short I had unknowing fell into a deceptive bait and switch sort of tactic where I was enrolled in 2 membership clubs to the tune of $19.95 a month each!!Bottom line I waas done wrong no matter how you look at it! Personally I feel that RBC should have said no to them because it was not asked up front when I placed my order! I called. I did some research and learned that if there are charges against your credit card that you were not aware of in any way shape or form you can always dispute them I should have been able to tell this merchant hell no, I did not authorize this so go pound sand and RBC should have backed me up...period!
Since I had to eat a $60 charge I plan to leave RBC as soon as my balance is paid off. This is utter and total nonsense! Other than raising my interest rate Capital one never did me this way.I just might go back to them!!
