I was called by a person in an office wanting me to come in for an interview with their job placement firm.  When I got there what first tipped me off that something was up was they had many different office locations on the door but the only website I could find was here in Canada.  I had an interview with a Senior Career Director and they explained the process and softly but out that there would be a fee for their services and they would find something for me as they had many contacts and their site has many logos of companies that they've worked with.

I was asked to fill in a sheet with information about what I wanted to find in a role and what were some of my challenges in my job search.  The gentle man left for about 5 minutes and then came back.  After about 10 minutes more of a discussion he said that I would have to come back for a second interview as part of the process and my wife would have to be part of it which was another flag.  The meeting ended with me asking a question about what the fee was and the "Director" tell me that we can work that out later and it can be paid over time.

You should never have to pay for job placement because the company recieves the payment from the company that uses their services and not the people they find the roles for.
