Readers Choice Readers Choice illegally not allowing me to cancel my service within the 30 day time frame. I was in the Hospital during that time frame and refuse to allow me to unsubscribe from there service, even after I was tol Arvada, Colorado
I some how got a phone call from this company after getting a free flight through Southwest Airlines since we fly with them all the time. In order to get the tickets you had to listen to these people talk and ask you about wanting to subscribe to the Readers Choice magazine service. I told them I didn't not want this and did not want all these magazines. When I went to cancel the service they said I was out of the time frame to cancel. However, I tried to explain that I had be in the hospital for an extended period of time and did not have access to cancel my subscription. I also told them that I am no longer working therefore I cannot pay for the magazines. One phone call a young man threatened me when I explained my situation and then 30 min later someone else called as said they would correct the issue and cancel my subscription. I didn't even as for a refund I just wanted to cancel any further bills or magazines. I then sent an email to the company explaining my situation with no reply. However, they continue to call my home at least 5-6 times a day and are very rude. I have since cancelled the card because they refused to stop charging my card. I told them I was not able to work since being home from the hospital and the account was connected to my checking account and they were overdrawing my account. They did not care and have now sent me a written statement in the mail. I need help canceling my subscription. They are charging $44.85 per month for like 3-4 years and they say there is no way to cancel unless it was done within the original 30 time frame. They knew I had no way to call them when I was in a hospital bed and very sick. This company is very rude and just trying to scame people as well as annoying them everyday of the week.

I searched the internet and finally found a web page that had the companies contact info.
There were several numbers and email addresses and there was a number to contact before you contacted the BBB to call for resolution. I had threatened to contact the BBB the first time they contacted me and the person on the phone was very rude and thratened me to go ahead and they were now turning me over to colletions. Which is not what was portrayed on the main website. I contacted the number and they made me listen to the recording were I agreed to pay for the magazines but the 30 cancellation policy wasn't recorded. I wasn't suprised. However, I told the lady that the entire converstion was not taped. The total for the advertised magazine subscription was over $700. Anyone who has a child in the family knows you can get anual subscriptions through school fund raising. This cost was way to high. The lady then said she that it would take 8-12 weeks for the magazines to stop coming and that would be a lesser bill of $135. I said I was not willing to pay that. All I wanted was to cancel the subscription and didn't even ask for a refund. They then asked me what I was willing to do. Being a fair person I agreed to pay for April's magazines which was a final charge of around $41.00 and that would cancel everything in the future as long as I didn't contact the BBB. You also have to ask to be placed on a no call list or they would continue to call several times a day. I hope this helps people in the future.
