I was recently sent a letter in the mail. It looked like a bill and was weary to open it, but when I did it read:
We are pleased to inform you through this letter that our network shows you as the lucky winner of an unclaimed prize money in the amount of Fiftyseven Thousand Dollars in United States Funds. The system indidcates that your name was randomly selected through a computerized ballot system as a winner for the SECOND QUARTER of Sweepstakes draw. Conratulations!!!
All participants were selected through a computerized ballot system drawn from Readers Digest, Publishers Clearing House, Online Sweepstakes, Internet Games etc.....

Enclosed is a check for ($2,988.35) which covers both the administrative taxes and Clearance fees of your winnings. For authorization and activation of this check, please contact your agent CYNTHIA JACOB immediately at Tel: 1-514-573-8362. Your winnings must be claimed no later than January 07 2009.
So, I called and called and called and all the time I kept getting a recording that said that the customer representative I was trying to reach was currently busy and to try back later. So, being as excited as I was to be winning this much money I kept trying. Finally I got through to her and asked her about five times whether this was really real or if it was some sort of scam to get me to buy something. She assured me it was real. So, I took the check to the bank to open an account with it so I could get my money. Of course after the manager looked at the check he said to be careful because he felt it was a scam. The check came from GIB Financial Services & Consultants a division of global imports BMW 500 Interstate North Parkway Atlanta GA 30339. My check came from Global Imports BMW in Georgia and had a telephone #5145698264. It was a Bank of America Check from North Carolina. It seemed too good to be true and it was. This is so upsetting I could have really used that money as I am a college student. I thought I would have been smarter than to fall for a scam.
