I had agreed to a magazine subscription over 5 years ago. I had paid the dues in two years, or so I was informed, and was receiving 4 to 5 magazines as promised for a very short time. Then I noticed it went down to only two magazines, and only one of which I had initially requested. The other had nothing to do with my interests and was never requested. I had received a notice stating the membership for a magazine I had never requested was coming to an end and offered a chance to renew, I tore it up and threw it away.

A few days later, on February 28th I received a call from a representative stating they simply needed to update my information. He asked me a series of irrelavant questions then transfered me to his manager, who was a very serious salesman, the kind that avoids questioning from the consumer at all costs.

During the interaction, I asked to cancel as they had no magazines of my interest any more, he proceeded to tell me that I cannot cancel, I am locked into some contract, of which I believed I had already finished paying for and was coming to an end. He then tried to trick me into giving him my account information, when I simply asked for their phone number,I was told I would receive it later. I then asked the company name and was able to get this from him. Then again later I asked for the number. He had no choice to give me A number, I say A number because I soon found out it was fake. I proceeded to hang up on the guy before he had a chance to update any of my account information, although he had already had my bank account number. The whole interaction left me feeling uneasy and taken advantage of.
