Realty Exchange Otis Gilyard,Dean Moksnes Uninhabitable Rental Cockroach Infested Palm Coast Florida
Hurriicane Matthew victim homeless and looking for for a place to call home. Contacted a rental being leased by Realty Exchange in St Augustine Florida.
Otis Gilyard responded went to look at the rental looked ok by appearance. Filled out an Application and he said we were approved Gave him $2185 to move in Asked if we can spray before move in just a habbit on rentals never know how long they have been sitting. Realty Exchange agreed gave us lock box code. Mother in law went place bombs while we were at work.
Mother in law ran into Dean Moksnes the owner of the property. Dean Moksnes informed her the property was infested with German Cockroaches and even went as far as showing her pictures. Showing massive amounts of cockroach feces and roaches. He said he had professionals spray and he's been spraying and replaceing outlets the stove and several other item because they were full of roaches. She then informed us about the problems they had been having with the property.
We went look at the unit on the way to work and the place was alive with roaches they were everywhere every room bathrooms closets kitchen and worst of all they were alive and alive inside the refrigerator! This place is infested.
So we called the Realty Exchange the day before our lease even started explaining the situation and asked for our money back that the property was uninhabitable and not a possibility due to being susceptible to infections because of amputations due to Cellulitis. Tracy said she wold not give us any of our money back. I informed her again we cannot move into a roach infested place .
We are living in a Hotel because of Hurricane Matthew and they gave us our deposit back and kept the rest made us sign a letter to get the deposit. Signed it out of desperation because they had all our money from Fema to get a place! They are taking advantage of Desperate homeless Hurricane victim THey Stole $935 from us and refuse to give it back Beware of Realty Exchange , Otis Gilyard and the home owner Dean Moksnes pleaded with him for a refund to no avail.
