Complaint Review: Rebateshq.com - Parago - OfficeMax

On 9/21/03 I purchased a KHypermedia Brand CDRW Drive 52x-24x-52x from OfficeMax which was advertised with both a $30 OfficeMax and a $20 manufacturer's rebate.

I am having a problem receiving the $20 manufactuer's rebate.

I submitted this rebate online at rebateshq.com. The submission gives a "click choice" of which 3 rewards to chose instead of just the regular $20 rebate. I chose the 3rd reward choice that offered "$20 and CDRW 20 PK Cake Box". My rebate tracking (tracking with tracking number 45511333) showed that my reward for "$20.00 and CDRW 20 PK Cake Box" was valid and being fulfilled.

When I only received the CDRW 20 Pk Cake Box and not a $20 check I called them and they said I was not entitled to the $20 check, just to the item I received, that I could get one or the other, not both. I explained (and they themselves saw it on their website) that website said I was entitled to both that it said AND not OR. Each time (4 times) the representative (the last time a supervisor as well) said they would submit a request to honor this and get a $20 check sent. Each time that I called back to check on the response I was told that the response was that I was NOT entitled to the check, just to the item I received, even though the website still says I am entitled to it. I would not have (nor would anyone knowing its value) chose just to receive this item and forgoe the $20.

They are refusing to honor the reward as it is stated on their website. I have printed out copies of each screen of the website showing that I am entitled to this $20 check in addition to the item I have received and I want them to honor this.
