I picked-up a brochure at a local Health Store. The brochure was for a local Hypnotherapist named Rebecca Wallace DBA as New Horizons Hypnotherapy. The brochure stated that she can hypnotize anyone, so they would quit smoking in a one hour session, GUARANTEED!!
I called and set-up an appointment and when I got there, I was surprised that the session was out of her home. I asked for some licensed credentials and she didn't produce any. She stated she didn't have a current business license as she had just moved to that address. My first red flag to leave, but I didn't. I sat down in a room (spare bedroom) and the first thing she asked, was she needed payment of $500. I gave her a check and now realize that was my second red flag. Payment shouldn't be requested prior to services provided. I did the one hour session, and when I left, she said Congratulations, you are now a non-smoker. About half hour after I left the session, I realized I was still a smoker. Nothing had changed, but I was $500 lighter.Third red flag.

I called her and told her I didn't quit smoking, the hypnosis didn't work and I was very unhappy with the session and that I just wanted a refund. She stated NO, she would not refund my money, but she would give me a half hour session (waste of MY time) refresher. I said no, I just want my money back! She said NO again and then I asked her if she was even a legitamite business, and she quickly hung-up on me. I called a few days later, only to have her hang-up on me again.

This is a complete Scam/Rip-off and does NOT work. She takes your $500 and her one hour session of hynotherapy doesn't work at all.

Excellent Experience

I had such an excellent experience with Rebecca Wallance, I feel the other side should also be spoken. I was a smoker for over 45 years, three packs a day. Having tried everything, I saw Rebecca Wallace who is a licensed therapist and hypnotherapist practicing a new form of addiction hypnosis that includes neuro linguistic programming. The "programming" uses language that you work on together and that will have the most meaning for you during hypnosis. I have been a non-smoker since I walked out of her office six months ago. She was extremely competent, helpful and professional. As I understood the guidelines of the session, I would not receive money back should I smoke again, but could have a one-time "refresher" session.

The fee included evaluating a serious and lengthly questionnaire, talking about the process prior to the hypnosis as well as a professional hypnosis session. I felt as if I should have paid her more considering the care and thoroughness with which she approached her work with me and the current professional therapy fees.

I have already saved far more than I spent on this session in cigarettes. I don't think I will ever smoke again, this was so effective for me. And, if I did, I would go right back to see her again.

Smoking Cessation Therapy by Rebecca Walllace works!

My husband and I were smokers for over 30 years.  We set up individual sessions to meet with Rebecca Wallace, MA, CHT., 20 months ago. Both of us were successful in stopping smoking that day and are still completely smoke-free!  Rebecca made it very clear in discussion and IN WRITING that her guarantee was an 18-month back up  guarantee and that we could come back anytime for reinforcement sessions for up to 18 months at no additonal charge. She explained that extensive research on "money back" guarantees showed that success rates dropped dramatically as it set up a cognitive conflict for someone who did not want to part with the required program fee. Also, it left it open for anyone to pretend the therapy didn't work, even if wildly successful, so they could reclaim their money.  The writer of the complaint is clearly a very angry person with multiple issues beyond smoking.  Trying to discredit the therapist for a home office by calling it a spare bedroom is  ridiculous. Rebecca's office is an office that happens to be off the front of her home. It is complete with ofice furniture, esthetic decore to induce relaxation and a lovely recliner the client sits in for the session.  We found Rebecca to be of the utmost professional caliber and  feel that she would never hang up on her clients! Ludicrous!

Since our own successful sessions, we have referred 3 friends to Rebecca and they too are now non-smokers.  Deanna and Harly, Santa Rosa, CA
