Complaint Review: Off the Record Attorney Caleb C Katz

I got a speeding ticket in Shawno County Wisconsin on July 13, 2023. I was going 77 miles per hour in a 55 and both my mom & myself checked my speed the second we came over a hill and saw the Sheriff pulling out of a driveway after he just stopped someone else. We both saw I was going 77 because the speedometer is huge stating the speed very boldly on her 2021 Toyota RAV 4 dashboard. Sure enough he pulled me over. 

The Sheriff wrote me a speeding ticket saying I was going 80 mph which I questioned him at the time but it wasn't like he was going to change the ticket at that point. Those 3 extra miles put me to a higher fine and a higher penalty which didn't sit well with me. So I contacted "Off the Record" to help me fight my ticket. I was hoping to at least get it reduced a little to the correct amount over the speed limit. 

I started by searching  Traffic Ticket attorneys in the city of Shawno. The closest attorney was either in Appleton WI or Greenbay WI. I ended up getting through to Caleb C Katz who was supposed to be in Appleton. I figured Appleton is only 44 miles from Shawno which sounded reasonable for someone to drive to be in court for me since needed to be in CA for my work at the time of the court case which was May 13, 2024. He took my case and I told him to call my cell phone or email me if he needed anything for the trial. 

I never heard from him even after the trial. I looked online at my case a few days later and I saw that I lost the case because I didn't show up in court and my attorney Caleb Katz never showed either. I was like WTF? 

I paid $335 dollars for him to show up in court or maybe work out a deal with them but he ended up doing nothing. When I got through to him on his cell phone he said "Im not driving 4 hours just for a case like this" and that pissed me off. He was claiming to be in Appleton WI but in reality his office was in Milwaukee WI. I did not know this until well after the trial. I asked him to appeal the case but he never did that either. What the hell did he take my money for then? 

He then added that I was going to lose my license for 15 days and lose 6 points out of 12 on my driving record which I did. If he wasn't planning on doing anything for my case, I wish they would have not taken my case in the first place. I lost $335 extra for his "no services" on top of my fine of $250.90 for the ticket. He didn't even try to get me into traffic school which I have never been in Wisconsin either. The whole thing was just a big Rip Off!
