We (my parents and I) stayed for two nights at the Red Carpet Inn in Houma, Louisiana.

We should have realized our mistake when we got there. It is a two level hotel and the grounds were flooded from recent storms. The hotel had refugees from these storms as well as migrant workers staying there. No problem from them, but because so many migrants stay there, they only issue two towels per room every other day! So we had two towels per three people. And the towels themselves were old, small and washed to death, having the constency (and drying power) of chain mail.

The restaurant was another matter. It is connected to the motel and is run by what seems to be a large clan of chain smokers. We sat and waited 1/2 an hour for service, and then over an hour for food. And then we were not told that they were out of a certain item. We almost left and went to McDonalds. We gave them a second chance the next morning, but when they screwed that up, we did go to McDonald's on our way out of town.

We went there to see the "real" Louisiana and we certainly did. It was damp, dirty and the people didn't care about our business. We stayed the full time and did not complain, but I am posting this as a warning to anyone else travelling in the area. Avoid this dump at all costs!

Hello, I am only responding to this message because I am a citizen of the community. It is a small town, but even the locals know not to go to places like that. You should have demanded a refund and took your money someplace else. We do have high quality dining and accomodations in our area such as the Fairfield Inn, the Hampton Inn, and the Ramada Inn. We also have a variety of good restaruants too. Soo if your trip here was not satisfactory 9 times out of 10 its probally your own fault. Just like any other city or town we do hane the crackhead motels. But I guese you all dont expeience those types of things in Maine.
