I rented 3 dvd's and they are like only $1.29 or $1.99 a night or so. I had kept them for a certain amount of time and ended up returning them and was charged the entire retail cost of the dvd's for a whopping total of $82.79...f$@&ing outrage iota and a total RIPOFF! These dvd's will still be used to other customers and I get charged the entire cost of replacement!

I call in irate to a customer service rep and she speaks to a supervisor and offer me a bs 4 free rental compensation. That is bad business to charge someone that much and still reuse the dvd's to there customers. I should have kept them. I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN and am filing complaints on here, Ripoff Reports, Angie's List, and a bank dispute...and go from there. This is awful how they treat their customers and I rent from them all of the time!

This is a PUBLIC site and you are subject to rebuttals. Don't like it? Don't file a report!! Get Netflix and you can avoid those "pesky" fees.  You screwed up therefore you a liable for your OWN actions.  Grow up and stop blaming others for your actions.  You can file all the reports you want but that does not mean you will get your way.  It is called LIFE and taking responsibility for your own actions!!!!!!

Define "certain amount of time"

I just have one simple question - How many days was your "certain amount of time?"  I'm sure it was quite a while.  I took a look at Redbox's rental policy and I'm sure you have not been ripped off, but were in turn ripping off Redbox.  (and no, I don't work for Redbox)

And anyone can respond to your post.  That is what this forum is for, and why there are many options for the person responding.  I can almost guarantee Redbox will not respond to you here.  So, simply answer my question and we'll see if you were ripped off, which I highly doubt.  You admitted you kept the DVD's for longer than the rental period, so you were charged accordingly.

Actually, I'll just post Redbox's policy, taken right from their website:

How long is the rental period?

Your rental period ends at 9:00 p.m. the day after you rent.

Want to hold onto your disc for longer?  No problem.  For each extra day you keep it, you'll be charged for another rental period + applicable tax.  If you hold onto your disc for the maximum rental period (21 days almost everywhere for DVDs), you'll be charged the maximum charge and the disc is yours to keep.  In most areas, those fees are $25.20 + tax for DVDs ($26.67 in Maryland), $34.50 + tax for Blu-ray Discs ($35.51 in Maryland) and $60 + tax for video games ($61.48 in Maryland).

This complaint was filed in response to a legitimate complaint against multi-millionaire companies that take advantage of th consumer with fees! this was intended for the company to respond to not some IDIOT WITH TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS, as if anything you have to say matters to me at all! You have no right and no business in my complaint with such RANDOM ANGER unless you possibly secretly work for Redbox, what a pathetic attempt with such irrational anger over something your not even involved in and yes I will get something back from them. Your rebuttal was a waare of time and ridiculously over the top long...why are you defending this company unless you work for them. Who would even care. And no this complaint will be filed and stay. If enough consumers complain something will be done. I will IGNORE YOU AND NOT RESPOND, unless it's a LEGIMATE REBUTTAL from the company directly...wasting your time!!! Your ignored!

Then the "period of time" that you kept the DVDs means it was WELL past the return window. They DO NOT know if you planned on keeping them. What they are probably charging you is the LOST revenue from those DVDs as you had them far longer then the average rental. You can WHINE all you like, but it wont change the fact that YOU kept those DVDs longer then you should have. YOURE complaining BECAUSE YOU ARE BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!! STOP IT!!! ACT LIKE AN ADULT!!!!

YOU did not return them in the time frame allowed for a RENTAL. It is NOT THEIR FAULT you welched on the rental. When you do that they charge you. Get over it princess, this is YOUR fault. Had you done as perscribed by the rental agreement then you would not be in this boat. YOU did not rteturn the RENTALS in a timely manner. No rip off here. Just another consumer who sought to screw over a company and is being held accountable. It is NOT a ripoff when YOU are the instigating party.

Who cares what they do with the DVDs. Its THEIR property. They WILL charge you the lost revenue and eventually the costs THEY paid to get the movie. And FYI: RENTAL DVDs cost almost 4x the amount of the ones you get in the store when you purchase a movie.

Kinda makes you miss your local video store eh. But this is what YOU THE CONSUMER wanted. NO HUMAN INTERACTION!!!! No one to plead your case to. No freindly manager who will erase YOUR late fees. No freindly salesperson who can recommend the newest or best underground movie. No now you get EXACTLY what you wanted. A movie vending machine. You cant NOW act surprised that incidents like this happen. It was YOUR choices.
