We received a report from the Napa, CA police department via a certificate of Mailing from John Cameron of Redflex Traffic Systems Inc at 23751 N. 23rd Avenue Suite 150 Phoenix AZ missing using my daughters drivers license number that she was a driver in Napa County on November 21, 2010 at 3:32 pm for a Failure to Stop at Red Light in a Hertz rental car CA 6MLH899. We were not in Napa, California on November 21, 2010. How did Redflex Traffic Systems get my daughters drivers license info? I feel this is an invasion of our identity. Also, my daughter is 22 years old so she isn't old enough to rent a car from Hertz. This has caused us much grief. The Napa, CA case number is NC0009830. Please solve this and please don't let this happen to other familes.

It would be nice if we could get an email or phone number of a reliable person at Redflex Traffic Systems to clear this. Also, I don't understand how RedFlex Traffic Systems is allowed to go into the CA DMV records and then misuse this info.

Thank you for helping us out.

Your daughter is 22 years old so why areyou writing this report? Have you even asked her if she rented a car, or have either of you called Hertz to see if they show her renting a car on those dates? Because if she did rent a car or Hertz shows her renting a car you may have bigger issues than a Red-Light citation.

Whether you know it or not as long as she has the deposit requirement(usually a credit card) she can rent a car at 21at most locations and for most type of vehicles. They just charge her an additional "under-age fee" per dayuntil she is 25.

This sounds like a Red-Light photo camera. So the next thing is that you should have the right to view the photo. That should be pretty clear if it is or is not her.

If it is not her, she never rented a car, and she was never in Napa then there should be an appeal process which you need to go through.

As for how these people got her information. They captured the Licence Plate Number and found out who it was registered to. Since it was registered to Hertz, they sent the notice to Hertz. Hertz in turn found out who they have on record as renting it at that time. Since rental car agencies take drivers licence numbers they passed that number back to this agency who in turn sent the notice to your daughter.

As you can see at any one time "human error"or "fraud"could have occured. Perhaps your daughter was in Napa and did rent a car. Perhaps someone has stolen her identity using her DL Number(the bigger issue I mentioned). Or perhaps it was "human error", such as when they contacted Hertz, Hertz mis-typed the DL number and it just happened to be your daughters. Or when Hertz sent it back to this company someone there mis-typed the number in getting the information.
