When I went to purchase my vehicle, I told the salesperson specifically that I needed a vehicle that could tow a loaded 8 X 10 trailer and one that could accomodate a snowplow.

He sold me a 1988 Jeep Cherokee, 6 cyl., standard trans.

I obtained a manual for the vehicle and returned a month later to the dealership, and pointed out that the manual recommends NOT towing that size trailer, and also recommends NOT attaching a plow.

The salesman told me not to worry, and to LIE to the company that provided the trans warranty if I had any problems.

There were also misrepresentations made about the condition of the vehicle, which required a further $1,500 in repairs to be made safe. The salesman had estimated, after a written mechanical inspection on their premises, $200 in repairs.

I wrote to the manager of the company letting them know the problem, and they DENIED that their salesperson made these representations.

In my opinion, from the top down, the people at Reg Midgley are dishonest sales-jerks, and all Victoria consumers should avoid buying a vehicle there.

Thanks.

Unhappy Consumer.
