Complaint Review: Regalia Tibetan Terriers

 Back in December, 2010, we purchased a 10 week old Tibetan Terrier pup, represented as show quality, with a supposedly full AKC registration. This sweet, precious little pup immediately became sick. After many diagnostic tests it was determined that the pup had a SEVERE giardia infection from the breeder's facility, most probably from drinking contaminated water/being kept in unsanitary conditions.

Furthermore, the giardia was so bad, that it caused the pup to develop a life threatening autoimmune disease. The pup also developed a large umbilical hernia and twisted testes (both considered genetic defects). It took approximately three months of persistent calls/emails to get Jeanette to even provide the pup's AKC papers. She did not want to address the health issues, and finally offered a partial refund of the purchase price - long after we had bonded to the little pup and spent thousands on extraordinary medical bills. 

Since that time we have spent approximately $25,000 treating this pup's life threatening IBD and at present, at age 3, he is the last stage of life - having suffered terribly, been unable to eat solid food for a year and having failed every drug therapy currently available. I can't even describe the heartbreak of watching this sweet little fellow struggling against such a terrible and unnecessary illness - it is the vet's opinion that had he not contracted severe giardia at Jeannette's, he would not be in a life threatening crisis now. After talking to Tibetan owners in Marin County and here in Southern California, I discovered that she has a reputation for running a puppy mill and that her dogs are notorious for having serious health problems.
