For starters: I have my Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in Organizational Communication Studies, so I'm sorry, but I feel slightly entitled to be in a positiion to judge the communication that occurs within an organization.

Fortunatley for me, Regency is so far from being a legitimate Organization my work is done. On the other hand, I feel there are several issues that no one at Regency Corporate cares to deal with, so I'll post them here.

* For the record: My director and educators are all wonderful and do their absolute best each and every day. I will stand by them and their efforts, as my issues are with "Corporate" and not the individuals that work for them in the schools. They do their jobs to the fullest and I respect and appreciate that. *

Having said that:

I transfered from a seperate school after 600 hours because I thought they were absolutely awful. Turns out, the grass was none the greener over at Regency. In fact, it's not even grass because the astro-turf was cheaper and that is what Regency likes: doing anything they can to save a buck or make one. In the case of it's students, it's more like making $20,000.00 bucks.

I have several comments to report but the most bizzare is the lack of communication between students/adivsors/president/financial aid, etc. And how about the overwhelming response to all of our questions that we get::: "It's policy." For example, "I pay you $2,000.00 a month for an education but I can't use any Redken color on my mannequin! How will I learn? Why can't I use the color the school has?" "It's policy." Congratulations, Regency! You will soon be solely responsible for several amazingly unskilled graduates who wind up ruining clienteles hair all over the United States! And you made PROFIT whilst doing it! Keeping it Classy as usual. Speaking of classy, as a transfer student I have realized that I am actually a Foreign Exchange Student. Apparently, no one knows what I am supposed to be doing at all times. So when I am in Rehearsal (oh the irony in the name Rehearsal, as we are rehearsing...well, nothing) I sit in a corner in the back of the room trying not to drool on the table and keep my eyes somewhat open. So every other day I sit. And sit. And sit ( I am done with all tests I can currently take and all work that goes with.)

So at 1100 hours I still need 50 skin care treatments. I had a great idea! Let me wax all the other students legs during Student Services and I could knock them out in one day! Oh wouldn't it be that simple! However I forgot about "policy." They would all have to pay $25.00 or whatever it is, to allow me to do that (p.s.- my fellow students agreed to this to help me out because they are wonderful ladies who I adore!) I was not going to tax out all of my friends due to Regency's intentional scamming. Oh did I not mention? My African American friends now have to charge the same-raced friends $12.00 now to go sit under the dryer. (We've yet to have the opportunity to put a white girl under the dryer with foils in her hair so I'll let you know if she gets charged as well, but until then....) Needless to say, my friends and I are very upset with the inconsistency in pricing, and the unfairness. (The dryer is not a product! What, are you charging the clients for the dryer to help cop your electricty bill!? Oh puh-leeze.) The good news is that we can use as much lightener (aka bleach) for highlights (foils) but we can still only use 20 foils for a highlight. Hello, Regency. My name is Stylist. Why would I need an abundance of product on a foil? That causes bleeding. So I asked corporate if they'd been to Beauty "school;" the alarming response? "No, sorry I never went to beauty school." There you have it folks. Your good old Advisor has no idea what a roller set is.

Oh but it gets so much sweeter. How about all those computers that seem to just forget you clocked in and or out? That's just so convenient. Unfortunatley for them, we can contact the service provider and blame them. When they can't figure it out and say it's Regency, we can sue the computer company.....and since the computer company isn't at fault and we aren't at fault.....you know what? It seems like no one at Regency corporate ever thought a relative of very prominent attorneys would ever set foot through their door. They've heard of "secret consumers" you know, they act like clients but really are Regency employees checking up on you? Hey Regency, ever heard of "secret students"? They don't exist, but I'd keep it in mind :)

Sadly, I had to sue the last school. I am positive that Regency will shape up very soon and fix those computers! And figure out where my $2,000.00 a month is going! I think Redken Fusions is about $6.85 a tube.....that gets me like....200 tubes a month or something? More I think but Math isn't thing. Neither is it Regencys'! I am sure they will compensate us all for that. And the dryer fiasco! But one thing is for sure: Corporate makes sure we are EDUCATED. And that the guest has an AMAZING experience. I mean, who wouldn't have a great time getting their hair colored by someone who has never colored hair before and then styles it with product they have also never used and then use it incorrectly? It sounds lovely to me. And that...is all about the Guest Experience. Is there a part where they talk about the Student Experience? No. But I could write it: "It's got the sweet SouthernBelle charm of a death camp. Every man for himself." Or maybe "The Student Experience: Making You Dumber. One Day At A Time."

Amen.
