I sent a 69 Camaro to Region Motors for Mechanical and Electrical restoration only. All the body work and paint was already done on the car by another shop. The job was originally going to be around 10K it morphed into the larger 30K number. Unfortunatley once you allow a shop to tear take your vehicle the option of moving it somewhere else is limited. The electrical was the largest component of the cost probably around half the total. In addittion to the 30K, I supplied Region motors with all new components engine, transmission and all required fasteners and electrical  wiring harness. These parts were roughly around 12K. I also approved misc. purcahses of parts by region motors. My total investment including previous auto body work and parts is in the neighborhood of 55-60K. The car I got back from Region Motors is a complete electrical basket case. Nothing electrical in the interior of the car works as it should with the exception of oil pressure guagues which are mechanical and leak at the engine connection point. I installed both factory and aftermarket backup guages same story with both sets. I spoke with Walt yesterday and he said he's very busy and not sure when he can take a look at the car. My list is not all inclusive but should give the reader a good idea of what I got for 30 Grand. I'm awaiting a formal response to e-mail at this time. Will Advise

  • Speedometer not connected properly behind instrument cluster or transmission.
  • Tachometer not working and required replacement.
  • Gas guage stuck in full positon tank will need pulled and sending unit replaced.
  • Temperature guages not reading at all wrong sending unit confirmed on one.
  • Dome light has a short causing interior lihts to randomly stay on draining battery
  • Power window speed adjustments need reset one new motor needs replaced and gear ginding on another. This reguires all interior panels to be removed.
  • New weather striping not glued in al of this is now being removed replaed with new and glued.
  • Both horns were disconnected and when plugged up horns would not shut off. The steering wheel required removal and new mechanism re-installed coorectly.
  • Electric fuel pump burned up due to not having a regulator on it or bypass fuel line. This sytem is now being replaced. The car also broke down several times from vapor lock on test drives.
  • Screws and bolts are missing or forced matched with wrong threads throuhout the vehicle.
  • Transmission required pulling and torque converter changed so vehicle would idle in drive. The car would only idle consistently in park or neutral only,
  • New rear air shock system would not hold air car sitting on frame rails.
  • The starter purchased by Region Motors was underpowered and required changing.
  • One headlight quit working plug had fallen off. While removing noticed all screws were old wrong type and forced matched.
  • One tail pipe is only 1" inch away from rear tire.
  • Headliner trim still requires installation front and back. Was told windows need removed by region motors due to to much rubber sealant used. This was incorrect and the tack strips just needed installation. This has since been corrected.
  • Winshield wiper motor quit working and I discovered that the old motor was repainted and installed. I had supplied a new motor not sure where that went!
  • New stainless gas line I supplied was not installed the old line with rubber splices is still in car. Must be repurchase and replaced

I am the owner of the 69 Camaro listed on this report. The owner and I reached an aceptable and satisfactory soulution to my problem. I believe that this was the resulted of an isolated enployee problem and does not replect the company business practices. I'd like all potential customers to be assured that in the event of an issue Walt will work with you on reaching a fair and acceptable outcome. Every business will have an occasional problem rest assured this owner will stand behind his work. No business is perfect it's how they deal with the a problem. In the case of region motors nice job!

We have worked with Jim on this matter and it has been resolved to his satisfaction.   We do back up what we do here.  The manager responsible for this car was let go over a year ago.  We encourage people to read the many positive reviews we have as our team does do very good work overall.

I am the author of the complaint. I have recieved a response from the owner that he will make a good faith effort to correct the issues with the car. I am cautiously optomistic and will post the outcome of these discussions.
