Today, March 27, I received a voice mail from a woman stating she was with a courier service and that she had been trying to deliver a court summons to my home earlier today.  I was home all day and no one ever came by.  I called the number that she left on my voice mail (850-695-0994).  The first man I spoke with asked for all of my information and then he put my on hold for over 15 minutes at which point I had to hang up.  The second time I called, I provided all of my information and was transferred to two different people when I asked for more information about their company and their address.  The man was extremely rude and told me that I owed money from a payday loan eight years ago (2009).  This is the first I have heard of this in years and this loan was paid in full at the time.  The original loan amount was $500.  He was stating that I need to pay $3900.    Not only did he call me names and insinuate that I was not smart enough to understand how the law works, he also sneered "you must be single because you are such a b***h".  Does a REAL company speak to people that way?  He stated the courier will keep searching for me, calling my employer, and anyone else they can find related to me.

Hello and thank you for the response.  I should have stated that all I did was verify information that they already had about me.  I did not provide them with anything new.  They had my social security number and my old address.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau with whom they have an F rating and I see that I am not the only one who has had issues like this with them.

No question that it is a scam

One of the key indicators that it is a scam is that he insulted you. When someone degenerates into name calling and intimidation, it is a clear indicator it is a scam. Otherwise they could speak to you without name calling.

Another indicator that it is a scam is that you got a phone call from someone saying she was with a "courior service" trying to deliver a court summons.  If there were a real summons, a courior wouldn't be calling first!

The only mistake you made was providing those strangers with information over the phone. Sometimes it is just best to be more skeptical and not give out your personal info to a stranger.

Don't contact them. Don't send them any money. They are scammers.
