Regions bank refused to honor a Power of Attorney Document, after my wife had become mentally ill and was going into our equity loan on our house and withdrawing thousands of dollars and throwing the money away, knowing that she had no means to ever pay that money back. If the bank had honored the legal document, she would never had access to the money and would have had to seek medical help. My wife is bi-polar and is not capable of handling finances at all.

You were correct in presenting a Power Of Attorney to the bank. They just wanted to get you into further debt, by allow access to the equity line of credit you had most likely secured by you home, your employment, and your assets in savings. The same stunt is pulled by banks against senior customers who have become dementia. The bank only makes money when YOU use that equity line of credit (most likely in the form of a charge card). They can't charge you interest, or actually activate the loan costs, UNTIL you start accessing the funds by cash, credit card use, debit card use, or check. More people  have lost their homes to "the equity line of credit" scam that any other cause. You may want to consider shutting the account down yourself, or empty the account out so funds are there to access. (Take them out, move them to another bank). Dave Ramsey.com or Clark Howard.com may be able to assist you with your financial situation with your spouse. Good Luck :)

And on another note:

Striderq Columbia (U.S.A.)) Is a fake, blogger for hire, and works for one of those "reputation defender' companies. He trolls the clouds, looking for any postings about any company he has been hired to 'rebuttal' against. His "rebuttals" are usual excessively long winded, and he always "claims" to "have worked" in the "industry" that the poster complained about. He is "critical" about the poster, but does not address the issues posted in the complaint. He uses "cliched" statements. So, dis-regard any of this guys postings on the web, internet, www or the cloud.  I have read streams of his postings under this handle And he may use more identification  handles to operate.

I guess you don't listen to your rebuttals then. At least mine are on the topic that the OP has presented. Mine also provide insight as to why what happened may have happened. Yours are just a sad plea for attention and I'm through giving you any. I'd rather respond to Karl and Charles.

A Power of Attorney allows someone to act on behalf of someone else. They for all allowable legal purposes are the other person. Exactly how do you think a Power of Attorney would have kept your wife from accessing the loan she was on? What if any paperwork did you provide the bank to substantiate her mental condition and her inability to properly perform financial transactions?
