Complaint Review: Regions Van Lines

Regions Van Lines Regions Moving Another Rip Off Moving Company Miami, Florida

I used Regions Van Lines for my move from Tampa FL to Scottsdale AZ without performing my due diligence and checking out the company first. Boy was I sorry. Now I will only use a reputable moving company with positve reviews online.

First the moving company arrived with only two persons to move the stuff. They basically took their time and ran over and by midnight on the first day I had to send them away to finish in the morning.

The next morning is when the real trouble started. As it turns out, the company gave me a binding quote, which in the moving business means that they can not add to the quote. However, as soon as my belongings were on the truck, the mover informed me that the quoted price would be going up from 3,400 dollars to 5,600 dollars becuase of additional space -

That is nearly double the original price. I could see paying extra for a few items not on the quote. But not double. And the fact is, a BINDING QUOTE is a binding quote period. That is why they have those. so that consumers can lock in the price without fear of additional charges.

The company also said they would have my belongings to arizona in five days, however it has now been almost two weeks, and they have not even been able to give me a specific date as to when my belongings will be delivered.

This has been the worst moving experience of my life. I have filed complaints with the department of transportation as well as the state attorney because in my opinion what this company is doing constitutes a criminal act of fraud and they should be prosecuted.

I think you are doing great service for the company you work for

Michelle,I, as a business owner in the service industry am behind you on this one and definitely think that you should do all necessary to collect. I think you are doing great service for the company you work for by taking the time to respond professionally and respectfully in their behalf.  Putting your voice-contact info for anyone to feel free to contact you if need for any clarifications just shows that you have nothing to hide. Also I recommend that you do some research on your clients to see what type of people you are dealing with. The internet is a powerful thing and it goes both ways always! Here are few of the things Ive found on these sisters just by searching their full names, verifying that they are sisters and matching their place of residence city and state to make sure I got the right people

Patti,You brought up a good credibility issue point; how did Elycia sign a document if she was already in AZ. A great question! It just makes me come to a conclusion that something is up here and that someone is just trying to take advantage of a service company. After doing research on this company I see that they are very reputable and as they have stated. Every reputable service company will have few bad reviews online; it is the inevitable when service is provided. Consumers must weigh the negative vs. the positive reviews to come to a conclusion.  In this case I found approx 95% positive vs. 5% negative.  If I was to provide services to my customers and they would avoid paying after service was done I would also take every measure needed to collect.

Elycia, Lies can only go so far. You and Shannon are Service Thieves! Do the right thing!!!

Elycia,

Please enlighten me and make me understand how come you refuse to pay the balance owed after you agreed on the services listed in the proof presented by the mover and by you. It clearly shows your signature/name on both presented docs which in my experience MUST be signed at the beginning of the work (in this case Florida). Furthermore, you never disputed the fact that you were in Arizona while the service started in Florida. I must come to the conclusion that your signature was actually forged by your sister. It is illegal and unethical business practice and simply shows you and your sisters incredibility!

If the company is not required by law to do an in-home estimate over 50 miles away then it would be your responsibility to decide if to use their services or not. Did they put an actual gun to your sisters head making her sign? This is not the wild-wild-west and it is obvious that you are attempting to skip paying the balance you owe. We do have options and choices in this modern age. If Shannon felt pressured to do something then she should have maybe brought in authorities while services started vs. at the delivery! I own a business and provide services at my customers request and if they feel that we pressure them to use us I would prefer that they dont. But to bash a company to the extreme when they have documentation to prove that money is owed is very unacceptable. Bottom line is you should never sign anything if you do not agree to it!

Thank you Patty and Regions stop lying!

Thank you Patty I appreciate your support.  And no they did not get the waiver you are speaking of.  And Yes I was in AZ and did not signed revised quote.  After the movers sepnt 14 hours loading 90% of stuff on to the truck and presented the revised quote at midnight as the management to our apartment was telling them they needed to stop for the night they insisted the revised quote be signed and would not unload our things and a supervisor would not return calls.  Shannon was strong armed to sign becuase they refused to leave with out a signature.

I tried calling a supervisor that night and in the morning.  I asked that our stuff be unloaded and we would would find another mover.  As you can see they did not do that they assured us since revised quote was signed under duress of holding our furniture and belongings hostage that is all that could be done until furniture was delivered and paid for in full.  Any disputes would have to be resolved at a later date.

Also, we were seconds away from signing with a local company but Michelle went above and beyond to bad mouth the other local company.  She hounded me with calls and emails bad mouthing the other local company.

Regions has never spoken with the AZ department of weights and measures and JJ had all documents including the revised quote.  He made it very clear that after the truck was weighed before and after unloading the furniture we would have to be prepared to pay Regions either way.  We understood and agreed.  And hello regions pay attention to the attachment I sent with AZ department of weights and measures final conclusion to pay original quote and that balance was paid in full.  It is the revised quote you claim we never showed them.  Your many lies and the fact you put them in writing is unbelieveable.  I contacted an attorney today and he informed me it is not slander it is lible since you put it in writing!

Thank you Patty for your information and Knowledge but at this point Shannon and I need to stop going back and forth and let our attorney handle it.  The AZ Department of weight and measurement is getting an official document to post which we will do as soon as we receive it.  Other than that the attorneys will need to handle Regions from this point on, we even have an attorney interested in a class action law suit because other complaints have been found!  Regions you should be ashamed of your despicable, dishonest, and underhanded behavior.

Yes, I am aware that you do not have to do a home estimate if you are over 50 miles away.  I assume you have the legally mandated waiver of home estimate?  I'm calling BS on your excuse for getting caught in your lie about the signature on the amended estimate.

And before you play the "you must work for a competitor" or "be a disgruntled employee" card......nah, I'm just one of those slimy bankers everyone loves to hate.

At time of delivery AZ Dept. of Weight and Measures were not presented with all existing documents

Elycia,

We both know that the reason JJ from AZ Dept. of Weight and Measures decided to allow the unloading of your goods at the initial Binding estimate amounts is solely because he was not provided a copy of the revised Binding estimate and you have denied receiving or signing one when asked.

We do not let our drivers carry any originals from the pickup day except the Order for Service, Bill of Lading and Descriptive Inventory Sheets (which are required for the delivery process).  After the delivery was performed, the revised Binding estimate was faxed over by our office to JJ from AZ Weight & Measures Dept.  JJ said that he will call you and advise you to pay the owed balance.  We waited the required 30 days after delivery and only then we billed you.

As of today you have disregarded all our attempts to reach you.  Instead of paying for services you have ordered, you and Shannon are trying to make a reputable mover look bad.  Simply not fair.

Did you ask yourself before posting your report on RipOffReport.com, why is it that we have no other reports here since we have been in business (2004)!?

I am glad you brought up these questions

Thank you for asking these valid questions and bringing the signature issue to our attention.  The answer to your first question has been addressed in my rebuttal update.  Regarding an in-home visual estimate, we do offer this free service to all our customers within 50 miles radius of our office location which is located in Miami, FL.

This move originated in Tampa, FL (approx 280 miles from our office); therefore we could not, and are not required by DOT regulations to physically conduct a visual estimate.  There are many movers in the Tampa area that could provide Shannon Fanslow and Lisa Baehm with an in home survey but Shannon Fanslow and Lisa Baehm have chosen to accept our over-the-phone quote and moving services instead.

Update for my rebuttal above

#12UPDATE Employee

Wed, March 28, 2012

After a consumer commented on my rebuttal and brought to my attention that the signature on the revised Binding estimate (displayed here) on pickup day reads Lisa Baehm while she was in AZ, I found out from our dispatch department
that Shannon Fanslow signed her sisters name instead of her own (youll need to ask HER why she did that).  This revised Binding estimate was signed and accepted on 1/6/2012 by Shannon Fanslow.

If Elycia Baehm was already at the destination, then how did she sign a revised order at the pickup location?  And why didn't you conduct an in-home visual estimate as any reputable moving company would do?

Again Regions has intentionally misinformed the consumers.  Elycia Baehm and Shannon Fanslow were ordered by the AZ Department of weight and measures to pay amount of the original quote and found the weight of our stuff to be about 14 lbs under the original quote.  Attached is the document with the agents notations on bottom right hand corner.  You will see in JJ's writing (the agent of AZ Dept of weight and measures) pay original quote, he figured out balance and marked next to the correct balance paid in cash!

Shannon Fanslow and Elycia Baehm refuses to pay owed balance for service rendered

#12UPDATE Employee

Thu, March 22, 2012

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that the customer may have felt during their relocation process.

As we all know there are always two sides to every story.  We did provide Shannon Fanslow and Elycia Baehm with a binding estimate.  It was based on a list of items to be shipped that was provided to us over the phone.  Shannon Fanslow was here in Florida and Elycia Baehm was already at the destination in Arizona.  When we book a job we provide all of our clients with a written agreement that lists out all the items that they will be shipping and request that they go over the list a make sure that it is accurate prior to signing.  When we arrived to the pick-up location we were asked by Shannon Fanslow to transport additional items not included on the original inventory list.  Our driver made sure that Shannon Fanslow understood all charges regarding the additional items and all other services performed.  We would not start the move without having Shannon Fanslows consent.  Shannon Fanslow signed a new revised binding estimate which included all the additional items and services to be performed and allowed us to begin with the relocation process.

Shannon Fanslow report on this site was posted prior to delivery.  We delivered the goods within a reasonable amount of time.  When we arrived to the delivery location we received assistance by the Arizona Weights & Measures Department which supervised the delivery process.  It was then found by the Arizona Weights & Measures Department that the revised binding estimate was rightfully charged and ordered Shannon Fanslow and Elycia Baehm to pay any unpaid balance within 30 days.  Currently all our attempts to collect the owed balance have failed.  It is now in the hands of our legal department.

As a proof of the agreed new price for the additional items and packing services, I have attached to this response the new revised Binding estimate which Elycia (Lisa) Baehm agreed and signed for on the pickup day (1/6/12).
