I was just looking at my bank statement and saw a charge for $34.99 made by Register.com. They had sent me emails to renew and I even received a call from them to do so. I told them that I was not going to be renewing with them as I was switching to Domains Priced Right ($7.95/year). I called to question them about the charge. They said that I was on automatic renewal, so it is my fault.

If that were the case, why would they be sending me emails and calling me? He asked me if I asked them to take me off the auto renewal. I told him that I did not even know that I was on it! Further, the charge was about two months ago...shows you how often I balance my check book. Because it was over 30 days they would only refund a portion of my money. Shame on them!

In the services agreement you stated you agreed to when you purchased your domain name or hosting it states that by default for your convenience Safe Renew is enabled and that you the customer agree to this and that it's your responsibility to disable this feature if you do not wish to have this turned on or no longer wish to have a service also we have a 1-800 number if you no longer wished to have the service you could have called in and cancelled it. Please read a contract before you agree to it; a services agreement is a legal contract and by clicking the checkbox 'I Agree' it's just like putting your signature on it even if you don't read it. As well you are expecting us to be mind readers. We do not know you no longer require a service unless you contact us. For example say you have satalite and decide to switch over to cable and don't call your satalite company to let them know you no longer require their services. Are they going to send you another bill for the next month if you use it or not? They are and will. They have no way of knowing your not using it, they have thousands of customers and cannot monitor usage on one account then contact them if they notice they haven't used it in a while to see if it's still going to be used.
