Register.Com sells your email address to porn websites
When you register a domain name at www.register.com they will sell your email address to porn websites. You'll get very lewd messages at work selling pornography!!! I wrote them several times but the damage is done. Now I'm stuck with 10-15 porn messages per day at work. Selling your email address is how these companies make money. They don't make money from the $30 from the ".com" name registration. Your email address is valuable to others, don't give it out.

Unfortunenatly what you have done here is slander as Register.com. I work for this company and I can say without a doubt in my mind that they do not sell your contact information to ANYONE. How these shady companies get this information/make their money is as follows:
They go to to a public database that ALL domain names owners info is put in. It is law/rule that these have to be in there. (See ICANN's website for details. icann.org)
and they start searching for random combinations of words and grab the owners name, email address and sometimes phone number and mailing address. Here's an example.

However since sometime last year ICANN has changed the law/rule. It can now be hidden. Services like Private Registration prevent this from happening. The lession to be learned here is do your research. Blindly pointing the finger makes you look foolish. I am not trying to be rude or flame you but it's just not nice to make accusations without proof or research.
