Complaint Review: Reliant Energy

Reliant Energy We were perfectly content with our electrical provider, (Center Point through Our Energy). Then came the knock on the door. The man said that we were part of a study on energy usage and that HE would Guarantee us up to 30% savings. He said that we would no longer pay the "handling charge" to Center Point. Houston Texas

We were perfectly content with our electrical provider, (Center Point through Our Energy). Then came the knock on the door. The man said that we were part of a study on energy usage and that HE would Guarantee us up to 30% savings. He said that we would no longer pay the "handling charge" to Center Point. He asked for my cell # and someone called right away. At tis point is the first time that Reliant was mentioned (by the person on the phone). The phone employee went through his legal speech, and the man kept nodding and giving thumbs up to me. 

WELL. We just got our first bill. It is 15% HIGHER than our previous supplier. And what do you know! there is the same "handling" charge to Center Point.
I was OUTRAGED! I called Reliant and was told I was in a 36 month contract with a $390 CANCELLATION FEE. WHAT!!!!  he associate then said that we could be put into another plan that would get us closer to what we paid with the previous Supplier. The minute the 36 months are up We are DUMPING Reliant. If anybody shows up at your door, Tell Them to GO TO HELL and slam the door!
They are sneaky and use unethical tactics to take advantage of people.
