In October 2011 my in-laws were told about Remarkable Engines by a friend of theirs who is a mechanic. They needed the engine in their older model truck replaced and since their mechanic recommended this shop, that's where they went. They lived in Mesa, AZ at the time and despite the fact that this shop was all the way on the other side of town, they out their faith in the mechanics and paid for the engine replacement.

They replacement was completed fairly quickly but they began having problems soon after. They were told by the mechanics at the shop that the seal on the engine simply needed to have time to set and everything should be fine. They drove the truck on a very limited basis as it uses a lot of gas and in Feb 2012 the engine completely seized; I was even in the truck when it happened!

They were told by Remarkable Engines that their "warranty" didn't cover having the truck towed back to their shop so my in-laws had to pay for its return trip only four months after the engine was replaced. When they got it back to the shop the mechanics tried to blame them saying that something had caused the engine to not seal when in fact they had said my in-laws needed to drive it MORE in order for that to happen.

The shop told them they would replace the engine under warranty and it has now been SIX MONTHS (to the day today) and they still do not have their truck back. They now live in Payson so to say this is an inconvenience is an understatement. They have been told repeatedly that their truck was "almost finished" and the shop keeps telling them days they can come and get it but when the day arrives, it's never ready. At one point they were told there was an engine in it but it failed to seal so it would have to be replaced yet again!

Last week they were told it would be ready today (July 20, 2012) and they were assured of this again on Monday. They called yesterday (before driving all the way down from Payson) and they were told it still wasn't ready; they were told it needed a "test drive". They came down today and went to the shop after being told it still was not ready and that the shop needed to track down a "couple of bolts". Their truck is covered in dust, the hood was open and the engine was completely torn apart. The engine is in PIECES!!!!!

They are at their wits end now. They don't have a lot of money and this shop has them bent over a barrel. DO NOT EVER GO TO REMARKABLE ENGINES!!!!

Dina's response to my email

After posting my complaint here, I went ahead and emailed Remarkable Engines. Here's what I told them.....

"I am the daughter-in-law of Frank and Rebekah ******; their 1984 Chevy pickup is sitting in your garage and has been for the past six months.

As a PC repair tech myself, I realize that not all customers will be happy with my work and there are times when I am completing work they think should have been done the first time around, at no charge to my customer. My in-laws have waited patiently for your shop to replace the engine under warranty but six months is absolutely ridiculous. I would never, ever, dream of treating any of my customers in this manner!

They currently live in Payson so when they were told the truck would be ready on July 19, 2012 they came down. Your shop is not
only wasting their time but now their gas as well. Let's be honest here; if you'd done the job right the first time then none of this would have happened. I have advised them to pursue this in small claims court at this point and I am writing reviews about this everywhere I see your company name on the internet. We will be contacting every news channel in Phoenix as well as the Arizona State Attorney General and I will be assisting them in filing the forms to take your business to court. That is, unless we can get this settled once and for all.

I will expect an email back in response to this with a FIRM DATE for the truck to be ready. This is your last chance to make this right before we begin the legal process and ensure that every person in the valley knows what kind of business you run. "

Here is the response I received from Dina, exactly as it was written....

"HI REMARKABLE ENGINES HAS NOTHING TO EXPLAIN FOR THAT THE MATTER WITH THE VEHICLE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU.

SORRY....

All capitol letters..... That just goes to show how incredible unprofessional the people working for Remarkable Engines really are! My in-laws are elderly as well as disabled. This "shop" is doing nothing more than taking advantage of them and there is little doubt in my mind that they are hoping my in-laws will just go away so they can file an abandoned title on their truck and then sell it for an additional profit. My in-laws are already $1600 + in to the so called "repairs" at this place and they cannot afford any more.
