Remarkable Movers No Tips, No Service Internet, Internet
In 2011 I moved, and I hired Remarkable Movers. I had used them once before and they'd been fine. Early in the move, they charged me $120 to put additional tape on many of the boxes. The boxes did need the extra tape so that was OK but I thought $120 was steep.
Towards the end of the move, there were about a dozen boxes still on the truck that needed to be brought into the house. The lead mover approached me and asked me what sort of tip I was going to give the crew. I was still sore about
the extra $120 so I hedged and I wasn't clear with him about what sort of tip I was going to give them. I didn't find out until later what happened next. With each remaining box that a mover brought into the house, the mover inverted the box so that it was upside-down once it was set down inside the house. The intent clearly was to repay me for my
ambivalence about giving a generous tip by damaging my belongings. I think the damage I experienced was pretty minor, though it could have been major. I can understand wanting a big tip, but still I was shocked by the movers' behavior.
I didn't file a complaint with anyone official about this, I've just remembered it and been angry about it since it happened.
