When it comes to slum landlords (LORD knows) Remax Accent of Richmond Hill (in particularly John Clark) takes the cake. Talk about unethical, sneaky, low down, and dirty all wrapped up in one evil unprofessional slum property manager. This man will swindle you into a lease so quick that it will give you whip leash literally. He is a smooth talker that tries to justify his 'professionalism' with accrediting his previous military experience, BUT trust me this 'man' is not military friendly, nor is he professional in any manner. He is the worst-of-the-worst when it calls to business, work orders, and communicating effectively and efficiently. NOW i do not know this individual on a one-on-one basis, and have not seen him in PERSON in almost TWO years, but I KNOW his character as a 'want-to-be' professional and he is a smooth talking money taker that will rent out (probably even sale) properties that do not follow within the HEALTH DEPARTMENT standard code of livable conditions. This 'man' is all about money and does not know a thing about customer service, customer care, customer appreciation, or even empathy. He is a bottom of the barrel embarrassment to his profession. I can not speak on behalf of the entire REMAX ACCENT team, other than JOHN CLARK's 'supervisor', who I personally spoke with and tried to define his unethical behavior over the course of almost two years! What I can say about this entire company is that they do not know, comprehend, or understand the meaning of a satisfied customer. An not only that they do not appreciate a GOOD, no trouble, never late on a payment tenant at all.

For over 12 years of renting experience I have never been treated as nasty, unjustifiable, and unethically by ANY rental company before. I have a great rental reference history, and a even BETTER credit score. I have rented a property (which June 2012 will make two years) from Remax Accent (John Clark) and from day one he betrayed my trust (in him being prior military), and high jacked me into a lease agreement without ever allowing me to: fully inspect the property, he never informed me of any pests or damages to the property, and took my money and had me to sign a lease (which he violated from day one)! After taking my money and giving me one key to the property a day before I was set to move-in we did an in/out inspection so I could fully see the rental. It was then, on a phone conservation prior to stepping into the property, when he informed me there was a minor pest infestation. Which he lied about the minor, and it turned out to be a four week out-of-my own pocket major infestation problem. I suppose he felt 'guilty' so he set us up with a year contact to have the rental home sprayed every other month. (?!?) In the meantime it was my 'issue'/ problem I inherited from the previous tenant. Not only that but during the initially in/out inspection he made promises of trimming a huge oak tree that sits directly in front of the house from OFF OF THE ROOF and OUT OF THE POWER LINES. Ask me why I had to pay out of my pocket during the first year to have the tree trimmed off the house because it sounded like a thunder storm beating down on top of the roof during the first year, and it took several months for the slum lord to repay me back not even 75% of the money I spent to get it trimmed! After the inspection he lied and said he was going to send me a copy of the in/out inspection report, which i requested after waiting for like two or three patient months, and he sent it to me missing the first page with his JC signed at the bottom which I NEVER saw him do.
The current issue is this, I have had a open work order on a simple leaking sink that turned out to be a mold/mildew issue because he sent an unlicensed (trying to be corrupt and cheap) handyman out to the property to fix three times. Each time the handyman came out he messed the sink up worse and worse and caused the plumbing to leak at the bottom as well. There was NEVER any mold/ leaking pipes issues until this handyman came in (thanks John Clark) and ruin the rental sink, cabinet, and ALL of my items underneath the sink. I begged John Clark to sent out a licensed plumber, and he get extremely upset and became irate! Now understand after each handyman visit I reported back to Clark that the man was messing up the sink, being rude, and had NEVER stopped the top portion of the sink from leaking. Till this day May 11, 2012 there is still no sink in the bathroom, and I had to call the Liberty County Health Department out to come inspect the property because the mold had gotten so bad you could smell it down the hallway. Not only that I inform Clark, and his 'supervisor' of my intend/ the issue (around the end of March) and they're response was 60 day termination, and you will STILL in the mold unless you go to a hotel. Mind you I have never been LATE on a payment in almost two years, never had any police/neighbor complaints, only called John in reference to roaches, and safety hazardous (tree), and this is how he responded to a great tenant, 'you have done nothing wrong, the owner just wants to renovate so the 60 day notice stands!' After telling him I had to call the Health dept., and informing him I was going on post to the off housing office he become upset, irrational, and aggressive and responded with a 60 day termination. If I was a BAD tenant I would never have been allowed to stay my whole year lease, or I WOULD HAVE never been allowed to continue to rent the property for almost another year! Once he heard Health Dept. he became scared, unjust, and irrational because the Health Department informed me this was not the FIRST time they have been called on behalf of a Remax Accent property. I always thought Remax was top of the line until I met John Clark. He would not even offer to pro-rate our rent for the unlivable condition (which we had to vacant the property for almost three weeks because the mold was reported as highly toxic black mold the worst type possible), and he never offered to replace any damaged personal property. Prior to the 60 day notice we had already paid our rent up to June 1, and never asked for one penny in compensation. This man is unjust, and he will take your money and move you into a roach infestation home. He loves to speak with military potential clients, because most call in and inform about sq. feet/price and jump on whatever is immediately available. Afterwards upon moving in he'll inform you of any 'minor' issues. Do you know when i signed my lease I was expecting a carpeted house, and upon the day before moving in I walked into a rental that was mostly wood tiled?!? He even had me moving in while the workers were still placing the wood tile on the floor, and they informed him it in at least 72 hours to completely dry. Since Clark is money hungry and did not want to give me 3 days back of rent he told me to move in and not worry about the wood tile with my heavy European furniture it would be okay. I have the Liberty County report/ photos if ANYONE wants to despite this, which the Health Dept. has been out to the house twice within about 30 days taking more pictures. They were the ones who legally deemed the property unlivable, and Clark was the slum lord who chose to leave us stranded in a molded/mildewed up house and continue to take our money!
