Tim arrived at our house after the storm and told us he would take care of all of our damage.  He boarded up our windows, put patches on our roof and everything went well.

The insurance company came out and they said they would pay for our storm damages.  Well come to find out Remedy Roofing billed us for the repairs that he said the insurance company would pay for.  He wanted us to make a check out to him for his repairs.  We did and then found out that the insurance company did pay for his repairs in a summary report.  We didn't find this out till we had given him a second check to do the roof.

When the shingles came for the job, they were not what he had promised, they were similar but because we were now nervous we had a friend that works at lowes look at the shingles and tell us about them, and he said that they weren't what we were promised.  They promised other things for our roof that weren't on the load either.

We told them to take it back and that we didn't trust them anymore and that we wanted our money back.  They refused and will not give us any money back because of a contract.  We now have to get a lawyer to get our money back so we can get our roof done.

It get's even worse, I called our insurance and they are now threatening to cancel us unless we get the roof done.   They said they can't wait till we get our money back to put on the roof and now the repairs that they did to our house have come off and water is coming in.  I had to have another roofer come out and they are awesome.

Remedy Roofing is nothing but a bunch of cheats and scoundrels.  They made it sound great but then they have you in contract, take your money and try to force you into putting on a cheap roof.

I don't know if Tim was aware of it, but he lied to me.  I'm disappointed and mad because I trusted him.

BBB Does Not Equal Bull

#10Consumer Suggestion

Fri, January 13, 2012

Your response was negative nonsense which should not have been allowed to post.  I have met with members of our local BBB.  The organization has no problem revoking accreditation to its' own members when they don't follow the guidelines.  Perhaps you should meet with your local BBB to understand the process versus doing an online search.  As long as businesses are willing to rectify their wrongdoings they can be accredited at some point in the future.  I give your comment no value whatsoever.

It takes a number of complaints to ruin a businesses' rating based on consumer complaints per volume of customers.  There is a mathematical ratio that is run.  Based on your comment I doubt that you knew that.  Get your facts straight.

Defending the Reputation of Remedy Roofing and the BBB

#10Consumer Suggestion

Wed, January 11, 2012

No one, not even a business, can buy the approval of the Better Business Bureau.  If you want to know more about the BBB, how they accredit businesses and, yes, even revoke accreditation, I suggest you contact them directly.  They are open to the public and are an educational workforce working for consumers and businesses.

When a business has failed to respond to complaints, will not show up for arbitration hearings with the consumer filing the complaint, or continues to violate the guidelines set forth by the BBB, their rating will be downgraded or outright revoked.  Secondly, the BBB has no problem informing the public of who has been downgraded or revoked, gold star rating or not.  All businesses are visible through the BBB website, whether or not businesses are members of the BBB.  The BBB does not play favorites and will not be "bought off" by a company.  The BBB has its' own stellar reputation to protect.  I have personally had a tour of the Houston BBB and gained firsthand experience of how they work for both sides to resolve disputes.

In July of 2010 when the hail hit Katy, TX, I met with Holden Roofing because I knew their name and had previous experience with the company.  Holden disparaged not only Remedy Roofing as a "storm chaser" and attempted to ruin their business, they ran down anyone and everyone in the roofing business and claimed to "own" the Houston market.  If you want to know where Holden Roofing stands now with the BBB, take a look.  They have been investigated by the State Attorney General's Office for coercion and failing to inform homeowners of the three day cancellation period.  The company also used the BBB logo in their advertising and was issued a cease and desist order by the BBB since Holden had already been revoked by the BBB for violations of BBB practices.  It's all there on the BBB website.  This is not to ruin Holden's business; they took care of that themselves.

Remedy Roofing came to me through a very satisfied referral here in the Katy area.  I am the type of consumer who "digs" in and learns about the issues at hand.  At my request, while running the estimate on my roof damage, a representative from Remedy Roofing took pictures that pointed to improper workmanship at the time the home was built that has probably caused deck damage underneath the shingles.  He politely took the time to show me the damage in the pictures and answered all my questions.  I am currently working with the homebuilder to see if they will work with us on this issue since poor workmanship at the time of installion of the roof that came with the home may have created greater damage.  I will not disparage the homebuilder on this site; they are willing to meet with me and discuss the issues that have been uncovered.

Let me explain something:  Remedy didn't hit me with a sales pitch; I asked them to check the areas around the vents and flashing where there had been previous leaks.  There is no silicone, shingles were laid improperly, openings were left for water to come in.  This was my request, since the builder came back and acknowledged improper installation years ago.  Evidently the problem was not handled efficiently at that time.

It sounds to me that the allegations against Remedy Roofing on this site are from unhappy competitors.  The language in several of the complaints sounds exactly identical to what the Holden Roofing salesman told me in 2010.  We chose not to continue with our claim at the time since our insurance company gave us a two-year window to complete the work.  We are so glad we waited since this recent storm was much more destructive.  I won't work with a company that uses coercion and scare tactics.  Remedy Roofing took the time to educate.  I didn't smell a sales pitch, and I am pleased that my search for a roofer following the hail damage on January 9, 2012, is over.

The REAL joke is your gold star award from the BBB!

Of course the BBB doesn't charge to open the resolution case, they already got your money up front.  You paid for that gold star rating.
I'm not saying that you are in the wrong here or that you run a bad business.  I'm just saying don't put too much emphasis on your gold star rating, with enough money anyone can have it.

This Site IS A JOKE.

Remedy Roofing, Inc holds a Gold Star Award with the BBB, the Gold Star Award is only given to top contractors. Remedy Roofing, Inc boasts a list of credentials that are unheard of in this business. This makes unhappy competition, which causes them to get on these public websites and slander our company.

These websites offer no type of resolution like the BBB does. The BBB opens a file and gives both parties a chance to come to an agreement. These websites want you to pay tens of thousands of dollars to open a case and then majority of the time will not even tell you where the complaint came from.

It's terrible that competing companies can go on these sites & type whatever they want just to direct homeowners (who are going with Remedy) to these sites in order to try to switch them over to go with them.

I looked up one of my favorite mexican restaurant's whose food is 2nd to none & after reading the reviews, I knew the slanderous reviews posted were from competing mexican food restaurants in the area. These sites are a joke.

This report was from upset competitors!!!!! Anybody can post here, what a ripoff

These ripoff reports are completely false & made up.  Every report you see is from a competitor hating on them because they are jealous & it upsets them when Remedy gets many jobs.

It's a shame competitors can go on this site and ripoff report and slander a salesman and the company they work for in order to get awarded a job. If anyone has ever met "Tim" from Remedy Roofing or have ever used him to complete any home improvement project then you would know that this is just another upset competitor and would find this amusing. At the same time, you realize that this type of behavior does affect not only the company and the guys named "Tim" from that company, but it also upsets the families who are associated with this great company which was built on hard work by countless people. It makes me sick that people can go online and write these things for all the world to see on the Internet.

Please remember to check the BBB rating of a company.   Remedy Roofing is a Gold Star BBB Award winning company every year since 2006.  Also remember that Remedy Roofing doesn't accept a dime from anyone until all work is complete and the homeowner is 100% satisfied, so you know this story is false.   It's clear to see this story was made up by an upset competitor.

So Ripoffreport has set up a site whereby you can get false reports with no way to get rid of them and then they charge you thousands of dollars to solve a problem that they set up.

Brilliant, sounds like a good deal to me.

Remedy Roofing Responds

#10UPDATE Employee

Tue, May 03, 2011

We do not have a customer  by this name.  This sounds like a competitor doing everything they can to tarnish the great reputation we have worked extremely hard to build.  Everything stated in this report is false.  Please check our credentials for yourself.  Ripoff Report is a place to post anything you want about a company.  These postings could possibly tarnish our reputation, unless we inform the public about how Ripoff Report works.  We have copied and pasted a few paragraphs from their website.  If this is a legitimate claim, then the consumer should post a legitimate name so I can address them with the utmost respect.  My business is run extremely efficient and I will not tolerate these false reports.  Ripoff Reports explanation on how to address false postings is pasted below

If you are a business with one or more reports filed against you, you can make it right. If handled correctly, Ripoff Report(s) filed against you can actually help improve your credibility and reputation. We offer you the opportunity to file a REBUTTAL to any report. (See the RESPOND rebuttal box at the end of the specific Ripoff Report you wish to comment on). Every company receives complaints, but how they handle those complaints separates good business from bad business.
If you want to do more than file a rebuttal, you might consider using Ripoff Reports VIP Arbitration Program. The arbitration program gives you the opportunity to prove that the report about you is false.
We developed the program in response to phone calls and emails from businesses like you -- those who have worked hard to create a good reputation and are having that reputation unjustly tarnished because of a false posting on Ripoff Report.
Because Ripoff Report has never had the internal resources to investigate reports that a business claims is false, it has always permitted the subject of the report to file its own, free, rebuttal. But some of you feel that is not enough. You have asked for more. You want the ability to prove it is false. You want an independent investigation. Perhaps most importantly, you want the false statements of fact removed. We listened to your concerns and launched VIP Arbitration in response.
Here s how it works. We have contracted with private arbitrators who have extensive experience, including experience as judges in court. Once the program builds momentum, we will add other highly qualified arbitrators to our panel. You submit a written arbitration statement identifying the false statements in the report, or explaining that the report was posted by a competitor pretending to be a customer. You are also given the opportunity to support your position with documentary evidence and/or sworn affidavits. There is a filing fee of $2,000 to pay for the arbitrators time and for administration of the program. The author of the report is then given the opportunity respond and you are given the opportunity to reply.
The arbitrator then reviews all of the submissions and renders a written decision. In the event that the arbitrator determines that the Report is true, there will be no updates or changes to the website. If the Arbitrator finds that statements in the report are false, the title of the report will be updated, posting this phrase BEFORE the original title: Notice of Arbitrator Decision: A neutral and independent arbitrator has determined that the following Report contained one or more false statements of fact. The false statements have been redacted. The arbitrators decision will be posted in its entirety after the title and before the original content of the report. Any statements of fact that the arbitrator determines to be false will be removed from the original report.
If you think this program may be right for you and you would like more information, click here to request a copy of the complete rules and an arbitration agreement. arbitration@ripoffreport.comAnother option is the Corporate Advocacy Program. Businesses that want to make a real difference should read about the very successful, groundbreaking and innovative program that both businesses and consumers are raving about. This program is a way businesses can turn negatives into a positive. Ripoff Report Corporate Advocacy Business Remediation and Customer Satisfaction Program is a program that benefits the consumer, assuring them of complete satisfaction and confidence when doing business with a member business.
