Complaint Review: Remington College

Where do I begin? First and foremost, Remington College is NOT an accredited school within the normal means of this term. They are accredited as in they only recognize themselves. No other college recognizes them, so no credits transfer at all.

The recruiters lie and will tell you anything to get you to sign your hard earned money away. My recruiter told me and my husband that I would actually get a degree from the program I completed. Now, be weary of their wordplay. Degree to them means a certificate that states, " you went to remington". It is THEIR degree/certificate, not an actual degree or certification that will be of any use to you. It is a very expensive piece of paper that is worth absolutely nothing in the real world.

The staff is completely brainwashed and are under some "positive thinking" campaign that is closer to cheerleading school than anything else. The "teachers" who taught the program I was in were not even real teachers. They did not possess any teaching degrees whatsoever. The qualification to be a "teacher" at this school is to have an "x" number of years in their field. While having experience in a field is a good thing, this does not make one a teacher. And the teachers I had were at best inadequate. They basically told us to read our books and spent more time talking about their personal lives and beliefs. They were not and are not qualified to run a classroom. They also did not prepare me or my classmates to sit for the state certification.

Though they claim to offer job assistance, they did not follow through on this offer. Not just for me, but for my friends who went there as well. Having great attendance and 4.0 the whole way through the program does not help the fact that this school is a complete and total scam.

I contacted several lawyers who worked in consumer law and all agreed this is consumer fraud to the nth degree. Problem was, myself and my friends did not have the money to bring a lawsuit against these theives. But there is good news as Congress is about to pass a law to make what this school does illegal under consumer fraud laws.

I am out about thirteen thousand dollars plus interest on a loan that has done absolutely nothing for me. I cannot use this certificate anywhere nor transfer any credits to another school. If I want to sit for state certification, I have to teach myself with books we never opened in class.

I cannot stress enough to stay FAR AWAY from this school. It is a scam and a fraud. They will waste your time and take your money on top of it. Their staff is very unprofessional and they do not possess actual teachers. The program I went through is in no way worth $13,000 plus interest. Save yourself time, money and complete aggravation and go to a community college or buy the books you need and teach yourself at home, which is what you will be doing anyway when you get done with this debacle.

A REMINGTON DEGREE/CERTIFICATE IS ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS AND SO ARE THE TEACHERS AND THE SO CALLED CURRICULUM. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS SCHOOL! They will leave you in debt and very frustrated. This is a total scam. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I look forward with absolute joy, as do my friends, when these schools are shut down for good and will no longer be allowed to scam hard working people who are trying to make a better lives for themselves only to be taken to the cleaners.
