I have just received a letter from a research company inviting me to become a mystery shopper.  This "JOB" requires me to deposit a check for $4,769.21. After I deposit this money I am to make 2 wire transfers to Janet Lucas, London, England. One will be a MoneyGram of $2100.00 and the second would be a Western Union Transfer of $2000.00.

I am then told to shop at K-Mart and spend $40.00 and then at Wal-Mart and spend $50.00. My "pay" for doing this will be $360.21 with an increase to $400.00 for my next assignment.  I am to contact Vicki Stone my coordinator at 1-7-604-618-5316 if I dont understand my instructions. If I do understand them I am to deposit my check and it should "clear" in two days. In two days i should take out only the amount of money required for my assignment.

The company who is issuing the check is a real company in PA but it is a livestock and feed company who I will be calling to notify tomorrow and the issuing bank is a real one citizens bank with the routing number 036076150.  I will also be calling the bank to notify them hoping to stop this as soon as possible to prevent anyone from falling victim to this sick scam.

Scam

First off, there is no company.  Only scammers with a computer, printer and disposable cell phones.  Every week or so they change the name on the check to another "real" or fake company.  And, no, your efforts will NOT prevent people from cashing those checks.  As long as there is greed, the checks will be cashed - thousands a week.  Only a very, very few will ever come to this site BEFORE they get into major legal trouble with this scam.  You did your part.  You checked it out FIRST.  Shred everything and forget about it.  Don't waste your time trying to, as WC Fields said, " Smarten up a chump ".  You just can't do it.
