Complaint Review: Reno Tahoe Auto Group

Reno Tahoe Auto Group RTAG They will hand you an ipad and ask you to leave a 5 star review before you leave just after purchasing. I left one myself not knowing all the expensive lies I had just bought. First we purchased a car that they had marked up well over 5000 from fair asking price from a retailer. They do this often and will lie thier pants off to get you to believe that the car is actually worth that price and will refuse to negotiate down to a reasonable price Reno Nevada

They will hand you an ipad and ask you to leave a 5 star review before you leave just after purchasing. I left one myself not knowing all the expensive lies I had just bought. First we purchased a car that they had marked up well over 5000 from fair asking price from a retailer. They do this often and will lie thier pants off to get you to believe that the car is actually worth that price and will refuse to negotiate down to a reasonable price (Other reviews confirmed this) After putting 7400 cash down on a 17000 vehicle we were told we were getting financed at just over 10% but they told us that if we purchased thier warranty for the engine, our percentage rate would come down to 8% and our monthly payments would come down as well. We checked our payoff recently and see now that our loan hasn't budged much in the 2 years that we have been making large monthly payments on it. We still owe 11000. It makes NO sense. We were upside down in our loan the moment we bought it. I knew going in that the make and model of the car we were buying had been notorious for having expensive spark plug repairs.

The salesman at RTAG assured us that the year we were buying did not have these issues. This was a lie. The car is being worked on now for this very issue they had promised it did not have. They are working on it now but charging us. When this spark plug problem happens again though, (and it will because it is a reoccuring issue with Ford Expeditions) it could be 1600 through Ford to have done each time. Several local mechanics told us they won't touch it. Also, only months after buying the car, we were needing to replace the rediculous wheels they sold to us on it. They were way too big for the car so the tires needed to be replaced within a few weeks after we bought it and this would continue to happen. We called to see if RTAG would help us out and of course they would not.

So after buying several emergency tires and an emergecy set of wheels from a junk yard until we could afford the correct wheels that should have been on the car when they sold it to us, we saved up to buy the correct wheels.  Total expesses from that were close to $3000. They knew the wheels they sold us were going to be trouble but refused to pit the correct tires and wheels on them for us when we were buying it Then the coolant began leaking all over the engine and damaged several things that cost us over $1000 to fix only 5 months after purchase and again Again, they did nothing to help us depite the $2000 service warranty they sold us saying that we would be covered if the car broke down. We had a loan officer look over our loan on Sunday and he was able to see that the percentage rate of 8% RTAG claimed we were getting was a lie. He also confirmed that they knowingly sold us a car that they marked up to an asinine price and thay they were fully aware that we would be completley uspsisde down in it. The man in the loan side of RTAG should be prosectued for the lies he tells to get people to sign documents in his office. I see now other people giving reviews about being taken by these people.

After having our loan looked over we also spoke with someone who used to work at RTAG. We came to find out that many of the warranties are scams. Some are not even recorded in to the computer and the customer has paid for a warrenty they don't even have record of at RTAG.  T Of course I was incredibly upset when I called RTAG themselves to see what they would have to say and one of the managers response to me was "What do you want me to do about it?" And he continually interupted me in a condecending tone to repeat that we had signed our names to this crazy contract and that if I had an issue I needed to call the lender. Nevermind that HE lied to us while we were in his office about this warranty he sold us that he claimed would aslo bring our percetage rate down. He confirmed for me that the loan was in fact not at 8% as he had claimed when we were purchasing. We are still running the numbers on what this car will cost us when it is all said and done not including what other expenses we will continue to have to fix it. We could have taken the money we have worked hard for and had a large down payment on a home for what this car has cost just so far. We still have nearly 11,000 left on the loan. It now blue books at maybe 5000 if we sold it private party. Trade in 2500-3000
