Rent-a-center Lied to contracts are decietful and their employees are about the same Palm Bay Florida
i have been a customer since november of 2005.I recievd at the time a big screen tv. the agrement was 50 week for 107 weeks. i added a playstation in december for my children and about 8 months later in august 2006 added a bedroom set (which i was told was brand new-even went as far as to put new tags on).only to take this set home and find a couple weeks later that thewhole insideo the frame as completly rusted out.i was told by the employee ina very inappropriate way well thats what happens if you over use the bed if you know what i mean.SEX DOES NOT CAUSE RUST!!!!s o i was told they would order a frame.
well it is 2008 an still no frame.now i have fell on hard times and have still 33 weeks left on this bedset.i called and said i have to give it back, i cant deal with paying and the harrassent of calls all the time and i even make the effort to call and they still call 2 and three times a day!i kept getting the run a round they didnt want me to give the set back,i verifiedthree times how much they said i oe on th tv and they said 271 dollars so i said fine but please cme get the bedset.
the day of the repossesion the store manager chris calls very rdly saying i hav to pay 800 to keep my tv a tv i have paid since november of 2005 never paying less than 56.03 a week soetimes 84 a week.he belittled me, said he never had a onversation about me oweing only 271 on he tv.the utter disrespect that he gave totallty caught me off guard. i felt i needed to really research how much i have put in this account and he tells me 3,200.you do the math i have paid almost 117 weeks atleast 7,000!!!
i found that everytime i added something on the account they started over and didnt apply any of the money i had already invested into it.i currently have hird an attorne to handle my case and amfortunate to have been able to but alot of people cant do this and they know this.
so my advice is dont step foot in these places they bait you soon as you step in the door and if it wasnt for me saving all he reciept who would of believed me. how can people sleep at night knowing they degrade an abuse people that are already struggling,i just wanted acomfertable bed to sleep in at night but i will sleep on the floor before i ever step foot in a rent to own of any kind!!!

You can find stautes and law on each indivual state by clicking www at rtoonline with dotcom...............look to the right of their site and you will find your state.
Each state is different in the laws they have for rent-to-own and two states still don't have any laws...how sad!!! every state should at the very least adopt California RTO laws and even they have left some things out.
I applaud you for your comment warning people to STAY AWAY from this company.
I also agree with you on the re-types that your agreement went thru as you added items...they will change the terms and the price to expand their profit and never fully explain anything to the consumer....BIG RIPPOFF !!!!!!
The comment made by the staff person at RentaCenter referring to anythng to do with sex...is inappropriate and can be reported to the Corporate Office by calling the 800 number...and he /she sjould be fired !!!!!
I worked for these well-sleeping loansharks for 8 years and finally said my goodbyes.
I now sleep well and do volunteer work in a low-income neighborhood.
Have your attorney research possiblities of a class action suit...it may be bigger than you think....craigslist and other media is a great place to invite people in on this and other things....like buying merchandise rather than renting it from rippoff artists
