 My mother has been a customer of Rent-A-Center for well over 15 years paying off numerous accounts and what they have done recently is absolutely unacceptable. She was in a new rental agreement for a big flat screen TV and stand for several months when her back door was kicked in and this along with other property was stolen. Sadly enough she did not renters insurance to comp for damages, etc. She took her police report to RAC and although she had opted and had been paying for their DLW insurance they advised her theft wasn't covered and she'd be responsible for paying off the remaining balance for the stolen rental property. While visiting tonight and hearing my mother vent to me about how these guys are calling her numerous times daily because she was late,

leaving a note on her door that she showed me and telling me how she called to tell them she was going to be late and the rude lady told her that wasn't acceptable and demanded payment it really Pissed me off. The icing on the cake for me was when she told me how they told her they could have her arrested. Trying to understand what all was going on and what her options where I asked to see her contract. To my amazement her contract and payments clearly show that she was paying the insurance fee. The insurance coverage clearly states that with this insurance if a theft occurs and a police report is provided she will not have to pay off the amount. Since the break in she's continued to pay this fee due to the fear of being arrested. This is horrible and RAC should be held just as responsible as they demand their customers to be.
