i specifically let rent a center know that i would become one of the bad consumers asap... i am nine teen years old and was looking for a computer for college and thought rent a center was going to give me a deal. i really didnt mind having to pay 1,000 something + dollars on a computer because i really did not have the time to save money for a computer to buy out right from the store and college classes were going to start soon.

when going to rent a center all the staff were really kind and friendly in speaking to me and i picked out an acer touch screen desktop for my computer. i brought the computer home and used it for a few weeks i assume about after close to a month my computer started acting up terribly. i sent the computer into rent a center so that the problems on it could be fixed. for about three days the computer was away and the manager of the store called my mother to come pick up the computer.

when the computer came back to me and i turned it on i was alright and believed nothing more wrong would happen to my computer. during the middle of the early night while cooking dinner i noticed my computer shut down and restarted itself saying start up repair it kept doing that repeatedly and i told my mother about it. i was told the computer was repairing itself yet it was the same problem i sent it into the store for so they could send it into their "service center" to get fixed. they told me to simply make a back up cd and deal with it on my own?? i had a friend who is tech smart come to my place to take a look at my computer for me and he told me that within a few months i wouldnt have a computer anymore because it had a bad hard drive from the sounds the computer was making. which was weird to me as well when i listened to any kind of music online or offline the computer would literally sound like it was ill and dying.

i spoke to my mother about it and told her that it needed to be sent back to rent a center and i was not satisfied i wanted to switch it for another computer that worked. rent a center gave me a loaner and told me i had to wait until my desktop was "fixed" or they were told it could not be "fixed". while holding onto the loaner nothing went wrong at all. i put the same exact programs and everything on my loaner plus more than what i did on my desktop and the loaner worked 100% perfectly for me.

almost a whole month went by and they told me that i had to give them the loaner back asap because i was not allowed to keep the loaner. i asked about the switch and they told me that i could have ad laptop that they had chose for me or my desktop back. i told them i was not taking the desktop back because it had a bad hard drive on it and the manager began laughing at me and got really rude with me as well trying to argue with me. he gave me a smaller laptop that is way cheaper [about 500.00 less] than the desktop i purchased and told me i still had to pay all payments of my desktop. that my two choices was either recieving the laptop or my old desktop back again.

within the whole argument he try to claim that rent a center dont cover viruses and i put a virus on my desktop. i told the manager to stop being rude and viruses was NOT the problem it was the hard drive that was faulty. which it is not right if i paid over a thousand dollars to have a computer shut down completely on me. the manager was also rude laughing in my face and trying to get loud when i told him i would put out a bad complaint about rent a center and if he kept up with the non sense i will bring him to court. again he over looked me saying the computer had a bad hard drive and told me he had legal documents i signed stating rent a center does not cover viruses. so i cant get him for the desktop but i can take the company to court or the manager to court and get them for costumer satisfaction that is also clearly stated in the legal documents //their contract that i signed and the manager violated it big time.

i had to go home with a second hand lap top that is about 500.00 cheaper than my desktop and my desktop was brand new. rent a center and the rude staff really made me angry... not stating the fact the laptop i recieved from them the cover on it is all scratched up and the letters are missing and tore up where it says acer and the inside where the mouse is, is beat up and rough a bit. the staff also had recovered the computer right in the store because i made it appoint that if i got home and the computer had a virus on it after the first few days of me using it i would really not be happy and there would be issues. i am angry enough because i have to still pay the same price for my desktop and the manager gave me a way cheaper lap top.

rent a center staff are all rude and they rip people off BIG TIME!! I wish New York would stop being so dumb and shut the company down as soon as possible. As for now I am going to take own action and thinking about getting poster board and putting a poster up near the rent a center near my location warning people not to go in there to rent anything its a rip off and taking further action as well. I will be looking into taking the company to court for my rights as a costumer.  i am probably missing a bit of details but if anyone wants to know the whole situation i dont even mind sharing because i wasnt trying to write a book i am really mad though at the company and think everything they did to me was ridicolous.

i dont recommend anyone go to rent a center unless they are planning on getting a bad deal. if thats case make sure you have good money on hand first to waste...bunches of it.

A college student should NEVER submit such a poorly written report as yours.  Capitalization, punctuation, spelling and proper sentence structure should be the NORM, not just something to which you adhere when you think it might be graded.  I dare say that all you do in life from here on will be "graded", whether it be classroom, family or employment.  The sooner that you learn this fact, the better off you will be.

And, by the way, Diogenes was 100% correct in his evaluation of your report.  I also found it appalling that someone who purports to be a student in any reputable college could write such a grammatical mess.  Wise up, young man.  You have been give good advice.

I do use capital letters when needed. I didn't really know it was that big of a deal to use proper grammar, spelling, etc. in a complaint/report; that really nothing is going to be done about it. Its
just on the internet for people to read.

- Okay you are just nineteen years old so let's figure that you are just starting out and even though you should, you do not really know what is expected of you.

If you post something on the Internet for people to read, they are going to take it as seriously as you do.  So if you don't take the time to use proper grammar, spelling why should anyone who reads the report take it seriously?  If you act/write like a first grader you are going to be treated like a first grader.  The other thing is that it appears you are saying you only try when you are being watched(such as grades).  Well if this is truly what you think then that attitude is going to come back and "bite you" time and time again.  Because the true measure of someone is what they do when they are NOT being watched.

Now, as to your complaint.  Perhaps you do have a valid complaint but it is going to be lost on anyone who is trying to read it.  If you do actually put a poster up and put the same effort into it as you did this report, no one is going to take you seriously.  In fact you may get quite a few laughs but they will not be laughing with you, they will be laughing at you.

You have a really good point about the costumer guarantee. I read over the contract and noticed it and my own mother as well informed me about it. I took the "beat up" Acer computer back in to Rent A Center after explaining to them about violating the contract. The computer as well was having issues a bit even though they exchanged it; it was freezing and going really slow. I received a SONY computer and I am fine with it. Its cover is fine, it's not beaten up and also when I turn it on it is working fast as it should be. I as an individual though will not want to go back to RAC for anything else though because it was a bad experience for me. Anyone else going there that's on them. Thank you as well though for informing me about the costumer guarantee in the contract.

I have things sorted out with RAC and I am moving onto other things in my life now. I have a lot to look forward to like graduating college in Fall 2012 or Spring 2013 at the latest. [[-=

I do use capital letters when needed. I didn't really know it was that big of a deal to use proper grammar, spelling, etc. in a complaint/report; that really nothing is going to be done about it. Its just on the internet for people to read. As for anyone who has anything rude to say to me I am going to be the "bigger" individual and just ignore it. Rent A Center is a company that I believe should not be kept opened. Though if anyone goes there than so be it on their behalf. To the professor at SUNY: did you actually state that you work in Sullivan? If that is a case, why is it that I am doing fine and going onto my third semester there and close to graduating? I was lazy making the complaint/report I do admit. I don't have all the time in the world to do everything perfect. No one does everything perfect not me, you, or anyone else for the matter. If that was the case that people did do perfect 24/7 I am sure the world would not have chaos in it. What class do you teach? If I do have a class with you than I will be sure to show you I am very hard working individual and you would not be able to fail me if I complete the work correctly. If you did fail me than that would be rude and I would simply do what I need to do (meeting or whatever is needed). Just because I decide to go and have bad grammar etc in a report... People shouldn't come at me, commenting me and thinking they know stuff about me when they do not. Its a complaint not a "I'm going to act like a little juvenile and start trying to rip peoples' heads off" thing; which would be very inappropriate and rude if you ask me. Asking people kindly: if any of you don't like the complaint/report than do me a favor... just move on to another report to read. Don't comment me things about my grammar, spelling, etc. please and thanks? I already know it's written a bit poorly. It's not as bad as some other reports I see on here though. Have a good day!

Hi Deborah, I work at RAC and Im sorry to hear about the issues with your computer. Our Worry-Free Guarantee promises that you don't have to be stuck with a product you don't want. You can return your item and get the same (or a comparable) item, then just continue with your payments. You even have the flexibility to upgrade to an even newer item if you choose. Im glad to hear that the loaner is working well for you, but please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care team at 1-800-422-8186 if you continue to have issues. I know its one more step to take, but giving Customer Care your feedback is the best way for issues like this to be addressed.

I am wondering how on Earth you were ever admitted to any decent college with the poor spelling, grammar and syntax skills you possess. Or should I say, the skills which you so severely LACK !!  I certainly doubt that you are attending SUNY.  ( Good Lord !  If by some improbable chance you actually ARE, I fear that someone in the admissions department will most certainly be unemployed in short order, and SUNY will be student short ! )

Please, next semester, do yourself an enormous favor and enroll in a few remedial English language classes somewhere.  You'll get nowhere, neither in college nor in life, unless you do.  And, before you come back with some inane response, consider this:  I am a professor at SUNY and know EXACTLY from which I speak.  Believe me, as is, you could never pass one of my classes, nor, I dare say, any class taught by one of my compatriots.

However, as I personally harbor no ill will towards you individually, might I add a heartfelt "bonne chance" to your ongoing battle with the illiterates at Rent A Center.

As you may know, it has been documented time and again that 99.9999% of Rent A Center employees couldn't even remember their own names, if it wasn't imprinted on their underwear.  Indeed, how can someone possibly be taken seriously when the first word out their mouths is invariably " DUH ".  And as for understanding, and being able to properly diagnose and repair, the internal composition and operations of a modern computer - forget about it.  They constantly have trouble understanding how an abacus works.

You will not graduate from college if you continue to start sentences with lowercase letters.
