Rent-A-Center scam Ripoff Oakland Park Florida
Furnature rented in 1998 was paid in full in 1999. In 2005 a false debt was sold to collection agency for the amount of $30.00 and reported to Credit Bureau. All payments were made in cash. This has to be a scam!!!

Rent-A-Center does not check credit, pull credit reports, report to credit bureaus, or sell bad debts to collection agencys. Your credit report could never be affected by RAC.
I think the only thing this could be is a report from a company called TeleTrack. This company is only used by rental companies, check cashing companies, pay-day advance places, pawn shops, etc. to see if someone ripped off another one of these sub-prime enities. Teletrack doesn't verify information, only posts what it receives. RAC store employees used to report charge offs to Teletrack, sometimes inaccurately. Teletrack could be posting false info about you if some sent it to them, I've seen it happen many times. Thats why RAC doesn't even use the Teletrack service anymore. They stopped around 2000 or 2001 I believe. I recommend you get more details about this "false debt". Who told you it was on your credit report? What exactly did it say?
