Complaint Review: Rent A Center

I rented a COMPAQ laptop from Rainbow Rentals on Airport Rd in Allentown PA back on 10/02 - Some time in Spetember 2004 RENT A CENTER took over RAINBOW RENTALS.

On 10/10/04 The back light went out on the screen of my laptop. I called them and explained what had happend and was avised to bring the laptop in and they would send it out. On 10/14/2004 I took my laptop to them and was advised it would be sent out the same day. ONE month later I called and asked what was going on. On the phone the assitant manager told me the laptop was fried and they were finding me a replacement. I said ok np. At this time I owed my LAST payment of $102.00 and then I was done!!

WELL when I walked in to make my last payment I was handed a bill for $1100 and was told I had to make repair cost myself!! I couldnt believe my ears!! I explained that there must be some mistake that the manager stated... well they cut me right off. So I stormed out and called HQ in Plano TX... to make this story shorter I went through District manager and Reginal Director I got a replacement laptop. However, they rigged this laptop like no other. They even left human in between the LCD and the cover screen!! Sick Creeps!! So now I own a $3600 piece of Manure!!
But I am NOT done, I have filed a Complaint with the BBB and also retained legal advise. BEWARE stay away from RAC unless you like taking medication for your nerves!!
