Rent A Wreck Do Not Rent From Rent A Wreck Miami! Scam, fraud! Miami, Florida

I rented a car at Rent a Wreck at 2901 NW 7th Ave Miami, Fl 33127 .Via kayak.comfor $30 a day. When I arrived at the location, I was shocked at the filth and condition of all of the vehicles. The owner proceeded to explain that I would be paying an extra $10 per day because I booked less than 48 hours in advance plus an additional $10 to have the sunpass sticker (which is offered free in in the state of Florida). When I said that i wanted to cancel he informed me that there is a no cancellation policy and no refunds. The car was at least 15 years old. The air-condition offed two choices, either off or on full blast. The radio did not work on the vehicle. The interior was a filthy disgusting mess, there was not even a sun visor! The exterior was dented with rusty paint. I was mortified to be seen in such a vehicle. On the third day of the rental the tire completely blew out while I was driving 60 miles per hour on a busy Miami highway. I pulled over to the side of the road and called the company. The owner proceeded to tell me that it was my responsibility to fix the tire. Irate, I told him that I did not think that was fair. He then said to me that I "put a key to the tire" insinuating that I damaged the tire on purpose). He then hung up on me, and did not answer my multiple calls after that. After the donut was put on, I drove back to Rent a Wreck Miami to have them either change the tire, as I had paid for another day or give me my $250 deposit back. At that point he told me that I damaged the rim  by driving on the tire and that not only was he not changing the tire, he was not giving me back the vehicle AND he was keeping my $250 deposit for damages. So in total I have paid $370 to rent a junk car for 3 days. The owner was rude, unprofessional, verbally and physically threatening. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.

Dispute the charges through your card issuer and let Kayak know the details. They'll probably tell you you should have notified them right away when you saw the car, but try anyway. Maybe they'll boot this place from their service roster.
Your card issuer should back you up. Hope you took photos of the wreck.

I rented the vehicle through Kayak.com which I have used many times before and have never had a problem. Rent A Wreck IS a national chain FYI. The surpass sticker is free, one pays only for the tolls that are used. I was being charged $10 for the sticker plus any toll fees.

I mean you did rent from "Rent a WRECK" didn't you?  Did you expect anything besides a wreck?  Next time rent from a national rental agency.  BTW...Sunpass is NOT free in Florida.  I live here and have one.
