I used rent.com in my search for rental propery in Florida. They promisse reward of a $100 if you finalize the lease from their listing. I finalized my lease more than 6 months ago. Initially they gave me run aroud saying that they must confirm with lanldord Etc. For last couple of months no one picks up the phone and no one returns my messages. It is deffinatelly a scam. My goal is to make other people aware of it, so thay don't waste time with rent.com

Rent.com Procedure

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, April 09, 2006

I work in the multi-family (apartment) industry and have actually used Rent.com as an advertiser as well as to find my own apartments when I moved out of state. I also have had my parents use rent.com when they needed to find an apartment. Rent.com has always come through with their payments. However, YOUR LANDLORD MUST CONFIRM YOUR MOVE IN DATE AND RENTAL AMOUNT for them to process your reward. You should follow up with your leasing agent or manager of your complex to find out why they did not confirm your move in. Rent.com charges a pretty high fee to the landlord when you move in, so a lot of unethical landlords will try to manipulate the system to avoid paying. Also, be sure that you identified rent.com as your source on your first visit to the property... failure to do so is a reason for the landlord to deny your reward dollars. Hope this helps, and good luck!
