 When renting a car by phone, the car rental company tries to oversell and cross-sell to you other services. They insist and position the add-on as agreat benefit to the customer, which is definetely not the case with my example below : I rented a car to be picked-up at Budget-Rent-a-Car at JFK airport. The car contract that I was holding to show to Budget-Rent-a-Car included free second driver if partner, which cost an additional USD 100. When I mentioned this to Budget-Rent-a-Car, they said: "No need for additional agreement, in the state of NY, all cars can be driven with a second partner".

This means, I did not need to pay extra USD 100 at the source when I prepaid the rented car. It took me then 4 times (emails and phone calls) and lots of hastle for rentalcars.com to understand the discrepancy, as I was asking for refund. After three months they came back to me, saying that their policy doesnt allow refunds of extras that they sell on their car rentals! Just avoid any of those No Name car rental companies, that I will do for good!
