I rented a set of tires and rims from Rent N Roll 3141 N Pleasantburg Dr in Greenville SC. When I first made the down payment (which was much more than it was supposed to be) I had trouble getting them to tell me how much my payments would be. They kept telling me I would have to wait until they contract was drawn up and signed before I could find out how much the payments would be.

Next problem I had was on the date that the install was scheduled it took them 6 hours while waiting to install my tires and rims. The next problem I encountered was the high Payment. It was more than my car payment. The rim and tire payment was 300 dollars a month with just an average set of wheels. It was too late to back out because they had already taken 300 dollars in down payment and had me sign the contract before discussing payment but did explain there was a reinstatement policy if I ever had to return the tires or rims.

Well 2.5 months down the road I was beginning to have problems making the payment so I tried my best to pay them off. I was only able to come up with enough to pay off the tires. So, I paid off the tires and not the rims. Things got worse when I was laid off from work. I asked Rent N Roll about return and reinstatement. Mary, from the company told me that if I returned the rims I would loose the money I had in them and would not be able to pick up where I left off. I decided the best thing to do was to try to get another job as soon as possible and catch up the payment.

During this time there were hundreds of Harassing phone calls. Threats for Legal action from employee's Tommy, and Marie. Finally when my mother in law received too many phone calls she being legal counsel explained that I should send a letter requesting no phone contact as according to the fair debt collections act. What happens next is an employee Marie from Rent N Roll call my mil back again from a cell phone that is listed in her name. She tells my mil that she is from Aarons and she need to update the account info for the account. My mil gives all of the info they ask about but calls back afterward to find out that this was in fact Marie from rent and Roll after phone record searches and phone conversations.

Within a few days after that there were no knocks on the door all I heard was the dog barking. I looked out the window and there was Rent N Roll employees Marie and another guy removing the tires from my car leaving only concrete blocks. I went out there and confronted them and Marie states that since I had already paid for the tires I would be able to come and pick them up after they had been removed from the rims. I waited a few days later to give them time to remove the tires from the rims. I called up to Rent N Roll and asked if my tires were ready to be picked up. They explained that they were very busy and it being Tuesday that the tires would not be separated until Thursday. I called back Thursday.. same thing.. We are very busy it will be Friday.

Called back Friday, I talked to Marie this time. She said they were to busy to get the tires off it would be Monday; I then confronted her about jerking me around and trying to keep my tires. She assured me that they were only busy and I could pickup the tires on Monday.

I was busy Monday so Tuesday came around I felt there had been plenty of time to have the tires separated by now even if they were busy. I went to Rent and Roll and approached the counter. I had to wait 10-15 minutes before the manager came out to talk to me.

He explained that I owed him 180 dollars in back rent but the contract was terminated so there was no chance of getting my rims back. He then go on to explain that he refuses to give me back the tires that I had paid for in full and even though it does not say anything about it in the contract he was going to hold my tires until I came back to pay him 180.00 for a contract that was no longer valid. He then went into the back office and refused to speak with me any further. I felt that I had no choice but to have the matter documented since this was a standoff and I had the legal right to receive the merchandise that I had rightly paid for.

So I did the only other thing I knew to do. I dialed 911 and explained the situation over the phone and they said they would send an officer out.

While waiting for the police it took a while for the manager to decide if I was bluffing. Then he came out and said that he had decided to give me my tires but he was going to take me to court for the $180.00. He said I needed to wait outside and he would bring the tires out to me. I waited outside for 20 minutes and I peeked into the garage to see what was taking so long.

They had not even taken my tires off of the rims. There had been 5 guys there the whole time with no customers whats so ever the whole 2 hours I had been there and they had not even taken the tires off of the rims. They had no intention of giving me my tires back. I also noticed that there were price tags on my tires.

They intended to sell my tires that I had already paid for and keep the profits. Anyway I did get my tires back but the anger and humiliation is far from over.

Rented tires and rims?

You gotta be kidding. All the cars I have ever owned came with tires and rims attached to them. It was part of the deal. But then, I ain't cool. But my car ain't sittin' on blocks, either.

YOU SHOULD HAVE WENT TO AN AUTO SALVAGE YARD or USED TIRE SHOP

For what you paid Rent & Roll you could have got 4 cool rims at a used tire and rim store or an auto salvage. I got my wheels at a used tire store for my Ford Focus. If they look good, no one knows you did not buy them new. I paid 400.00 for the whole deal, tires and all.

I'm not saying I'm rich or your poor. I was simply commenting that your two reports contradict each other. I was simply offering advice on how to save money

Had I know the payment were going to be 300 dollars I would have never walked in the door. Their advertisement said 60 - 100 dollars a month. They took my deposit and waited two weeks before the install and would not tell me how much the payments would be until I had the tires installed. I not here to respond to you your comments have nothing to go with anything. Go away and mind your own business.

So Im not rich like you. So I could afford them. I ws making enough money to pay for them until I lost my job. I was trying to pay them off that is why I had already paid off the tires they tried to steal. I put spartanburg on a location I used to live in spartanburg several years ao. Big deal what does that have to do with anything. Maybe im trying to avoid stalkers like you. Go get a life of your own.

From your other report you filed the same day

"I have been banking at first citizens for quite a while. The teller told me that if my savings account balance was going to be under 200 dollars they would charge me a fee of 5.00 aprx. Well I was doing well my check gets deposited every two weeks and I leave at least 6 dollars in the account to cover the fee"

"I went in to check the balance of my account and it was negative 40 dollars"

Why the two towns twenty minutes away?

All I'm saying is if you don't have that much money why are you renting rims and tires for $300 a month

Dude , do you search the internet for the purpose of pissing people off? I dont know why you responded to my report but your response has nothing to do with what happened to me. Also, you must be pretty darn stupid. It dosent say anywhere on here that I had 200 dollars in my saving account. I lost my job that is why I was unable to pay not like it is any of your business ..so but out and get lost jerk.

Jovian,

A couple things...

You also filed this report

ripoffreport.com/reports/0/274/ripoff0274191.htm

In this one you talk about how you have only $200 in your savings account and got overdrawn fees. perhaps if you hadn't bought expensive rims you might have avoided both of these issues?

Also, why do you have two different towns as your location?
