We recieved a fax from this company which, resembled an invoice. Our accounts payable department was almost ready to cut a check and send in the payment when they noticed that the customer info was incorrect on the invoice.

After calling this company up and inquireing on the invoice, the company informed us that this was only an advertisment (Unsolicited Fax - FCC Violation) made to look like an invoice. After I questioned them as to why they are sending fake invoices to people, the person on the phone became very defensive and responded, "Hey, I didn't make the fax up."

This form of advertising is very shady and some other companies have already tried this before. This one arrived via fax, others can come in the mail. What makes this really borderline illegal, is that they use words that usually only appear on invoices. For one, the large bold print on the top of the fax that reads, "INVOICE." Then, on the bottom, where it says, "Total," it also reads, "Make all checks payable to:"
