I am 73 years old and was in the market for a vehicle and came across

a SAAB 9000CD being auctioned on the internet (www.trademe.co.nz) by

Repo Cars in Auckland. They seemed to have a reasonable reputation, so

putting my faith in the way the vehicle was described I bought it and

sent my son up to pick it up. This is when my troubles started, the

vehicle had a fire in the dash board spanning from the top speakers

down to near the brake pedal (a tangled mess of wires and melted

plastic as you can see in the pictures) The fire had caused more than

the indicators to fail, in fact, nothing worked at all, the radio,

central locking, electric windows, brake lights, reverse lights, rear

boot release and the most damaging of all defects was discovered later

on 10 minutes into the cars trip home, the electric cooling fan had

failed which caused the vehicle to over heat and seize, outstandingly

Repo Cars had been told to change the description of the vehicle by

other people who had inspected it and noticed the damage (Kind of hard

to miss the obvious fire damage when it is in full peripheral vision

of anyone sitting in the drivers seat, the strong burnt plastic smell

would have been sufficient for most) I was never offered an

explanation as to why they didn't describe they vehicle properly, but

it has become obvious to me now they appear to be in the Automotive

industry for the short haul as their current feedback as of 24/03/2011

shows several similiar incidents of dishonest descriptions and

mechanical failures all within this current week, chillingly they

operate under the guise of claiming to support non profit

organisations. They are definitely an outlet for dodgy cars and I

would not recommend them to anyone.
