Complaint Review: Republic Bank & Trust

Republic Bank & Trust Dishonesty, conniving, unreliable Internet

This company has been doing this to almost everyone who uses them. Most people don't even know that the money is going to them. When we choose to have our e-file fees deducted from our refund (on TaxAct in my experience), it's not made obvious that it goes to Republic Bank first. This "bank" will hold your money longer than necessary. Direct Deposits happen immediately, not in four days. When the IRS sends the money via direct deposit, all they need to do is transfer it to the customers account. That's it. There's no reason to hold it. Go to any bank in the country and do a bank transfer... see how long it takes.

There is no doubt in my mind that they are in fact holding money to gain interest. Unless we can get some kind of proof (which is near impossible for the average citizen), this company will continue to do business this way.

Do yourself a favor, do your own taxes on paper, or just pay your e-filing fees up front. Don't let these scumbags get a cent.
