This copy of my email (that I sent on numerous occasions without reply) explains what happened to us.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing with regards to this hotel that I booked through your web site on 24th May 2006.
I paid a deposit of $10 for this hotel and was appalled to discover that on our first trip to the U.S.A and after a long flight, that this hotel was closed down and indeed we later learnt that it had closed at least 2 weeks prior.
As you can imagine we are particularly upset that this happened and that no one from your organisation or the Travelodge organisation let us know before we travelled. You certainly had my email address and most probably my telephone number.
Can you imagine what it must feel like to arrive as strangers in a new country and not have anywhere to stay at 10pm on the first night of your vacation? Naturally I expect to be refunded my $10 at the very least.I would also suggest that you pass my email and / or my comments to your superior within your organisation and would expect a prompt reply as a matter of courtesy.
I will be taking this matter further and intend to contact the Travelodge organisation both in the UK & the USA.
I appreciate that many motels are franchised but believe that there are those who are responsible for ensuring the customer is satisfied.
