We were contacted via telephone in Feb 2014 by a rep. from Resort Timeshare Resales advising that they got our information from the resort where we own a timeshare.  The man rep. told us that he had people interested in renting our timeshare for weeks we would not use for $2100 per week- guaranteed.  He advised that there was just a one time completely refundable deposit opening the account on our behalf and to send us out a rental package to register us with Resort Timeshare Resales.  The fee we were quoted was $799 and we were explicitly told that the deposit was completely refundable at any time and that it was used to hold our place in the rental pool and as soon as we did not want to rent we could request the refund and there would be no problem.

One stipulation was that the deposit needed to be taken by credit card before they could send out the information /registration package.  Suspicious but the gentleman was very polite and provided what seemed to be reasonable answers to our questions as we spoke with him on the phone.  He referred us to leek at their website while we were on the phone and told us they had been in business sine 1985.  They have good reviews on the website.  He was calling from a alid listed telephone number as well.

My husband gave the cresit card info. as requested and we were told once the info/registration package came in the mail we would need to sign the form inluded and return.

When the package came in the mail it was basically a few junk mail brochures and a one page paper with our credit card authorization code for the 'deposit' of $799 and a place to sign (which basically authorizs the company to retain your $77 as a one time fee.)  The page info. was completely opposite of what we had been told.  The 'deposit' was actually an adveryising fee that was NON_REFUNDABLE.  It also stated that there was NO GUARANTEE for renting or selling of any timeshares.

We did not sign or send the paper back and immediately reposted it as a fraudulent charge to our credit card company.

After more research we now understand that this company is bogus and the only servie they provide is a small ad in the USA Today paper that advertises their company to further potential clients that they can scam.   The company also has complaints on the BBB website but they shaw a B- rating even though they are not a registered BBB company because they respond with a generic answer to the complaints so that it keeps their comapny looking as if it is valid.  All information that was provided to us via the phone conversation was bogus and we do not feel this is a legitimate company of any kind.
